Alonzo Deal is Dead

Honestly I don't think they care. This is the first time in YEARS we've had a highly qualified person become available and actually have interest in us. This administration couldn't keep from stumbling on their own cacks.

They care man. The frustrations from the powers that be has been all over the news.

There’s no way Manny or James survive another season that in any way resembles this last one.

they will care bc if we have another failed year full of rebuild quotes, the money wont be coming in donation wise. thats when change will happen. i can see giving manny another year with a new OC that runs a better O to see if it fixes a lot, but even if we do fix the O and still look unprepared and lay down against easy teams, thatll be it.

Bigger problem brewing is recruiting.

We're looking at a USC situation, where even with improvement and an increased win total, theres just no heat around the brand.

Next years class, even with 10 wins, will be in the 25 to 30 range.

We'll need at least two seasons of a quality on field product with significant wins before we get back in the Top 10 to 15 range.

USC is a bit diff in that this isnt heltons first year completed there. they all know his fate and they still retained him bc of the lack of quality candidates elsewhere. if we have another failed year with manny and he isnt gone, then well def be USC

if and when both the coach and Ad are fired, Zo can come in and be the AD if he wants to do that job. i dont believe he actually wants to stay in college athletics for a long period of time anyways esp if the NFL came calling again. either way, no coach would coach here if he has to run ideas through another figure about his staff and recruiting. if we dont win 10, both are gone anyways
True. If you were Zo, why would you hitch your
reputation, and expertise to 2 guys who may fall flat on their face and pull you down with them?.
Much better to go in when things are more defined and money is not an obstruction.

The only way heat is generated around the brand is by the product on the field, and that means WINS.

regarding money, if youre hiring Zo to be your Ad, there are better candidates in that theyre lifelong ADs with a proven track record of success that would cost way less (depending on what ZO is or was seeking). example -- danny white from UCF. if you want an AD, i say slash the whole Zo thing unless its like a consultant role and go hire Danny White

Wasn't a very good idea regardless...now if they would have created a consultant position, that'd be different, but Zo wouldn't take that low level of a position in all likelihood.

what the school needs is a person dedicated long term in that role as a football GM/AD w.e. you wanna call it. this will be a full clean out to get things right.

So we’re all on the “this isn’t going to happen” train today? Got it. I’ll check back tomorrow when another article comes out about how Alonzo to UM is a ‘done deal’

You saw where he was quoted himself, saying "the door was shut" right? It's over.

Read my post. Nothing about AD's.
Thank you Danny, but no thanks.

I was really hoping Zo would get a position with some power over football operations.

But If they clean house I wouldn’t necessarily want Zo for the AD job without looking at every option first. There are a ton of quality guys with more experience in the college game out there.
