How is that a fact? How do you even know what Mario did or didn’t want? Reporters and/or fan sites saying he was a candidate does not equate to fact. It could easily be much more likely he was going to stay in Oregon even if offered.

Jose Mas Santos who sits on the Board of Overseers was leading the charge and had put everything together etc. Mario didn't even need to interview for the position, it was done. James pulled a fast one and hired Manny.

this implies the BOT or parts of the BOT did not approve the Manny hire. I don't think Blake would have hired Manny without the backing of the BOT.

I’m sure his name has been brought up here before, but any way we can bring this native Miamian to coach the offensive line? He’s doing a great job in Oregon and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind coming back to the 305.

Thoughts???
He was Mario’s hire to be OL coach if he came

He did. They we working a buyout. He offered manny and manny accepted. It is what it is at this point

TBH... I do not want Mario as HC @ UNIV OF MIAMI . (Not because he left us before when he was hired as asst w/Golden ) I know we could possibly do better.

HONESTLY!

We need to stop the knee jerk reaction of hires this why we in the shape that we are in.

Take our time on the next one.... (< YES I SAID THAT!) We have a lot to offer believe it or not. Especially with the new facilities .

GO CANES!
Ship has sailed for Mario. He will have another amazing class, will be in the playoff in two years, bldg a program in the northwest and we will continue to have our thumbs up our *** thx to Blake.

Mario is a very poor football coach. What he has done/is doing at Oregon is surrounding himself with excellent assistants, which is a vast majority of the job. If you surround yourself with studs who can absorb some of the load, you can succeed even if you're not very good at being a Head Coach, which Mario certainly is not.

He is also an EXCELLENT recruiter, as we all know. So, if you get good players, and you hire good assistants, you can build a solid program almost in spite of your ineptitude as an in-game manager.

However, before we crown anybody, let's see what happens on Saturday. Oregon at Washington, 3:30 EST. If Mario goes in and out-duels Petersen and wins that game, he might really be onto something. But this is a game that Mario has traditionally lost. It's probably the biggest game of his career to date.

He won last year so we shall see.

Think about who would you rather have? Mario and his staff or Manny and his staff?
