Pete missed like every other insider goofball, but he had panache. He was the Lame Kiffin of message board insiders. So we still got Jobe in the bag? Or was that part of the void.

10000%. If you come around here thirsty for inside info that amounts to anything more than the occasional dude tangentially associated with an occasional player then you're either an idiot or someone that finds general entertainment in dabbling in fantasy.
You're putting to much stock into his current POSSIBLE opportunities though. You're forgetting the lone intangible that offers value. ALONZO IS A MULTI MILLIONAIRE. He doesnt need to have a day to day at any point. He has assets in real estate and several businesses that I can speak on. Plus he is a well known commodity in football circles from a personnel perspective. He doesnt need Cleveland at the end of the day. Even though I wouldnt be surprised if he isnt going anywhere. Cleveland is dysfunctional just like we are so you never know with them. In life absence makes the heart grow fond.Zo may be unemployed soon. So the dynamic changes. You think Zo has a GM gig lined up right now? Where do you think he ends up if he gets let go in Cleveland? Does GB take him back in the same role he had? Seriously, what other opportunities does he have right now?
#1. Manny was hired because Blake is crap and made a flippant decision when he believed that Diaz, JR--the guy he e envisioned as a HC one day-- was really going to stick with Temple over UM at anytime, be it 6 hours, 6 days or 6 weeks. He was allowed to skip a true search because the powers that be give him that authority even though he was known to be hands off with coaches, and had just let Richt crash and burn.
I know we're all searching for the big reason we got our dycks in a blender again, but people keep overstating Diaz, Sr. as someone the powerbrokers give a **** about or owe a favor (s), when it's actually the other way around.
This is what you get when feminists pussify a football factory!“There is a prevailing opinion that they dont want a strong guy like Alonzo coming in and stirring things up. It's literally Riviera Country Club. “
We’re so ****ed.

How was cristobol ’going to be the guy’ if richt quit suddely amd manny got hired immediately, with no interview process? The story that came out after the Diaz hire is that Cristobal was going to be the guy, but James wanted Diaz and he had the backing of several BOT members that were friends of the mayor. I have issues with the fact that Cristobal had also been pre-selected without interviewing other candidates, but it just goes to show that Mayor Diazs friends made sure Diaz Jr got the job.

I said it is a potential issue. I don’t have his contract, but I’m a lawyer and an adjunct professor at UM law, so I’m just spotting “potential” issues like I would for a class. But it could be that simply lack the balls to have a guy like Highsmith around. Don’t know.
He passively aggressively has been throwing shots at Richt and blaming Richt all year. Even before the season. Yet Richts offense averaged more points and his team ended with a better record. Mark Richt definately deserves some blame...but to still be blaming the previous coach AFTER the season? This is your baby now. Fix it.So with Diaz claiming that part of the reason that they team went under .500 is that the team culture has to change, it made me wonder. Have you ever seen a HC who was a coordinator for the previous HC, ever blame his predecessor for the team's failures? I cant remember ever seeing it. Maybe because its stupid to claim that the team is filled with guys with the wrong mental makeup when half the team was his responsibility.
Are you able to share what may have changed in those few hours? Sounds like it may still be unresolved? Appreciate the info as always. Happy new year. That's not stefansson fault. Even mike said they agreed to part ways. Than later that same night manny called and said let's reevaluate that in a week or two. Two dbs are saying they were told Mike's leaving also but now it doesnt seem it. Just more clown show.

Details of the weekend Diaz got hired...

"Richt had a three hour meeting with Blake James on Saturday afternoon, during the course of which he agreed to overhaul the offense. Sunday morning, Richt called James and indicated that he wasn’t comfortable firing his staff, and that he’d prefer to retire instead (this saved the school 20m).
At this point, Rudy Fernandez (chief of staff to the President of UM, also SVP communications), who’s very close to Diaz Jr., started telling the board and James that UM had to retain Diaz.
Simultaneously, David Epstein and Manny Kadre, who are also the BoT for UM (and are also very close with Manny Diaz Sr., former mayor of Miami) started pressuring James to interview Diaz ASAP.
While this was all happening, Jeff Soffer (whose mother is the namesake of the indoor practice facility—among a family of billionaires) was reportedly ready to pony up 10m for the buyout of Mario Cristobal. Adding to this, Cristobal’s wife was interested in the move, however I haven’t seen texts about Mario’s personal interest.
On Sunday night, James interviewed Diaz, who expressed his interest in the UM job, but also mentioned that he couldn’t keep stringing Temple along, as he was in the midst of assembling a staff, on top of recruiting starting next week. Diaz Jr. informed James that he was leaving for Philadelphia within the next few days (Monday/Tuesday) and they would have to make an immediate decision.
The rest is history, as Diaz was offered the job on Sunday evening."
The problem here is the confusion created over two entirely different positions.
- Chief - slapdick position. Less important than the OC that Blake James is talking about and Highsmith is never taking
- Football AD - an illusion created when sauces heard Highsmith was interested in coming to Miami.

By this account the MAJOR culprits are the BOT members ( Epstein and Kadre) which apparently influenced James.![]()

Maybe. I heard a good counterveiling opinion on a podcast that a strong GM of sports is actually quite rare in CFB. College GMs usually handle auxiliary duties that a head coach does not have time for - basically an assistant. Same podcast said that ignore would be a huge step down for Zo to take such a position.I continue to be shocked at the utter incompetence and apathy from the decision makers at the University of Miami. It’s like every single one of them is completely tone deaf and oblivious to what’s going on in the real world.
I mean, I get why Blake and Manny don’t want him to come in and hold them accountable for this mess but the people above them should really be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully enough big money people say enough is enough.
Well put.....what Alonzo wants and Miami needs is a strong GM type, because of the incompetence of the current staff. The strong GM type does NOT exist in college football.
The ACC will never kick us out. It’s over. Until the ACC threatens to kick Miami out (which seems unlikely) the administration has no incentive to change the status quo.
I do think that should be our message though—the ACC should replace Miami with UCF (or whomever). Start beating that drum and maybe it will wake some people up.
