Alarming quote from Ferman in his Wedn. Update

We keep blaming Diaz and James but it goes back to being symptoms of a larger problem. Why doesn't Frenk step in and say he wants a football director? Why doesn't the BOT give James an ultimatum? It's one of 2 reasons (or might be both)
1. They don't care about football
2. Mayor Diaz Sr has powerful friends who are protecting his son.
Manny has been here a year as hc. The **** show has been here since coker.

Hello, Occam’s Razor.

Strictly my opinion - No way Blake voluntarily cedes authority to a Football Guru and Manny doesn’t want that over his shoulder either based on the type of hires he seems to make.

I don’t get these guys. I love hiring people who are smarter than me and Know more about technical matters than I’ll ever know. I give them a fear-free forum. They give me the benefit of truth and information and have saved my âss a bunch as the decision maker.

Did you also give them the authority to fire you if you f'up?

You’ve summed it up perfectly. Pete left a gigantic void, and it’s unfortunately been filled by trolls and morons posting Spermbag clickbait and **** from some poor mentally challenged ******* with Aspergers.
Maybe The Fonzanoon should take over.... Any poor ******* with 38,000 post and an abundance of free time should qualify.

Huh??? There are serious consequences if I fûck up that can cost me my livelihood. That’s a given. The end result is the same.

Well sure, but I was correlating your comments to what AH's role here would be if hired. I don't think the issue is having an alpha guy or smarter guy than me. It's how much power you want him to have? I think they would be fine with AH as a sounding board (and some other low level admin. stuff ) if he is ok with that.

And IF diaz sr was the majority of the reason his son got the job should it be in anyway different than friends in high places? There is 3 people on the board that would side with football is a priority. The rest are all simply business people that look at numbers first and foremost that pertain to the university in some loose sort of way.

I continue to be shocked at the utter incompetence and apathy from the decision makers at the University of Miami. It’s like every single one of them is completely tone deaf and oblivious to what’s going on in the real world.

I mean, I get why Blake and Manny don’t want him to come in and hold them accountable for this mess but the people above them should really be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully enough big money people say enough is enough.
Stating the obvious at this point. Not only the big money people, but how about every player that strapped on pads for this team. They are shytting on the legacy that is UM football, and what helped the University grow in so many ways, and now making a cartoon out of it with the boats, rings, and hashtag bullshyt. Nobody, but nobody seems to get that those teams of old just outworked everybody else. Alonzo knows this in his bones, precisely the reason they are afraid of what he would do. it’s sickening. Ticks and leeches.

I don’t agree with this as to AH’s role. There’s no one in the administration who knows what they’re doing with football.

I think we need a qualified, independent football administrator who reports to no one lower than the school President, and preferably, reports to something like a 3 person BOT football-only subcommittee.

Anything else is a superficial waste of time.

The more I’ve thought about the Highsmith situation, the more I’ve wondered if he really has a place anywhere in college football. Are there any head coaches in college that would want someone above them making on-field and recruiting decisions for them? I really don’t even think Mario Cristobal would want a situation like that. Seems to me that all college HCs want full control over the program, including personnel/recruiting, as well as choosing their assistants. It seems like an AD (or Asst AD of Football) would really only be involved in hiring or firing the HC, or situations where they need to force the HCs hand in firing a coordinator. Seems like Highsmith wants to be very involved in personnel/recruiting and maybe on field decision making, and while that goes on in the NFL, I don’t think any college HC will go for that. I think the answer is: if you don’t like the on-field product, then get rid of the HC. And if you feel like the AD cant get the right HC, get a new AD. And that’s where Highsmith would be helpful (as AD or Asst AD), but I don’t think any HC will want to come here if Highsmith is too hands on with the team. They just need to make sure they’re picking the right HC and let them work.

I don't disagree but Blake is not giving up power and no HC with any self respect will agree to being micro managed. There is an in between space in all of this but people seem to be all or nothing in their expectations.

I dont know if you're simply voicing ur take or if it's your opinion. So I'll ask do you feel anyone that TRULY has a voice in football, that knows his craft, that gets paid serious bread should be okay with simply being a sounding board to a bunch of simpletons? Cause only way any real football person will come here as anything but an ad or a head coach is if he has POWER over them to run shop how he sees fit. Would you be okay with flake and mandy being your boss essentially if you were zo?

Zo may be unemployed soon. So the dynamic changes. You think Zo has a GM gig lined up right now? Where do you think he ends up if he gets let go in Cleveland? Does GB take him back in the same role he had? Seriously, what other opportunities does he have right now?

Obvious answer....
Those prima donnas couldn't handle Zo. I just felt ***** had enough duck in him to make the concession.

Blake and Manny are betting that this new OC will the job done. The odds are against them. Either Alonzo comes now or next season to help BOT get right candidates for HC. Which there’s only three imo Luke Fickell, Mario Cristobal, or Josh Heupel.
Interesting candidates, I like the list. Heupel would be an excellent HC here at Miami. Would certainly be a massive upgrade over Mandy.

How about a devout faqqit like *****15 who follows me around a message board analyzing and cataloging my every word? Now go cry to the mods to give me a shot like you always do when I respond to your homosexual overtures.

Who said anything about giving Blake a choice in giving up power? Either he accepts the new structure or he’s fired for failure to perform at an expected level of competence.

As to Manny - What self-respecting head coach prioritizes jewelry and dancing and hires or allows for the hiring of low caliber corches all over the place? He doesn’t have a say in who his boss is. If he doesn’t like it, he’s also fired for failure to perform at a competent level.

You don’t let the inmates run the asylum. If the President and BOT are doing what’s in the best interests of the program they step in and stop the bleeding and then put measures in place to build it back up properly.

Do you realize that if Manure is being consulted on this Chief of Staff hire that that means the Chief will have no real power? It’s a useless sham position if it reports to or works under Fake and Manure.

Exactly. The problem with "culture" is way above the football program and other sports programs for that matter. And I think both 1 and 2 coexist.

RVA - I hear you. I too have done the same and boy has it saved my **** on many occasions. Having people smarter than you while also empowered is a relieving thing. Zo would be the start of getting to that possibility - the next would be hiring a great HC, providing him the tools to do his job, then staying out of the way.
