Alabama / O’Brien impact

It’s a Miami thing. Jimmy Johnson famously made safeties into linebackers and linebackers into defensive ends. It’s a philosophy that’s usually worked for the program during championship seasons and underachieving seasons alike. Guys like Ray Lewis and Jonathan Vilma played MLB here at around 225lbs .

I get it. Somewhere DCs need to start outsmarting these HUNH RPO spread looks. I truly hope the defense can start catching up. At Bama, some of our defensive schemes have left me shaking my head against the hyper-spread teams. In the Ole Miss game, we were determined to play a lot of man to man and ran, I think, too many disguises and looks and shifts against a Kiffin offense that was simply determined to go fast and find space. You put the wrong scheme out there and you might as well be asking your guys to dig ditches with spoons. The next week Arkansas, with half our talent, and using even a couple of walk-ons on D shut down the rebels with a simple 3-8 zone look. They were jumping routes and simply keeping all the action in front of them. They picked Corral off 6 times and 2 for pick-sixes in their win. Simple offense met a simple defense and it was beautiful.

What’s your opinion of Golding and does he truly call the defense independently or how much involvement does Saban have?

If Miami is going to win, our TEs and other skill guys will need to produce in the middle of the field.

O'Brien doesn't scare me one bit. Tell me what makes him so special without saying 'Patriots' 'Brady' etc.

BAMAs talent has me on edge tho

Come on now, this is all Saban determining the game plan. O’Brien will just run it. That said, I mentioned weeks back that Saban will run heavy with some play action, screens and misdirections sprinkled in.

Diaz and Co better stack that line 7/8 man or we’re going to get smacked around. Specifically the edges is the concern. Control Gap integrity…

Golding makes the calls but he ain't running anything that isn't a by-product of his mentor, coach Saban. They sound alike, they are alike. The same could be said for Kirby Smart's time in Tuscaloosa and Georgia. The last guy we had as DC who used his imagination and creativity was Jeremy Pruitt. He was just as strong-willed as coach Saban and we broke a lot of tendencies during his time as DC.

Put LT56 at strong side DE and let’s watch the chosen one create his legacy

Unless @TUSKtimes is secretly Bill O’Brien, I think we’ll be alright. ****, if he is O’Brien than I’m feeling confident because he has NOT been game planning very well at all lol.

I’m hoping we can try to emulate a bit of what Ole Miss was able to accomplish because our offensive philosophies are really similar. Just like Lane, Lashlee doesn’t really do anything too crazy. He wants to go as fast as possible and create space/numbers mismatches. There’s very little window dressing or attempted deception

I've said this previously, if Lane could ever field a good defense his teams would be a problem.

And no point in it, I'd just be guessing. New year, new bodies, new OC, and coach Saban isn't talking, as usual. Be a lot easier to tell you what Miami will do.

Better go back and watch the Patriots in 2010 and 2011... People were buttnaked.

He wasn't the OC and you sure as **** ain't gonna give that man any credit for anything as the QB coach to Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr

As someone that bets on everything (this summer I’ve been hammering tennis at all hours of the day), knowing the total game is 62, whatever the 1H line is, that will likely be my biggest bet of the game… to take 1H under total points
hit me on game day wit the live bets lol side notes where all the bettors and degens at? lol

How much of all of these guys success at New England was due to Brady? I think a ton.

You don't have as much time with these guys in college like you have them full time in the pros, so there's an adjustment of how much you can give them. Has O'Brien made that?

Having said that, we better score at least 35 to be in this, the game has changed.

I appreciate the cordial football talk @TUSKtimes. Honestly, Alabama is the premier program in our sport right now so Tide fans coming here to trash talk would be like me signing up for the Michigan State board to trash talk Sparty. No reason to bother with that.

"Bama is rehab for Head coaches and OC's from the college and NFL ranks." Heard this one time and thought **** that's some ish. Couldn't refute it. You can go down the list. Whatever your opinion of Bill right now, history shows he'll come out it fully rehabbed /leaving ****scaloosa. With that said...FVVVVCCCK BAMA!!!!
