Alabama Love MEGA THREAD

No. Miami just needs to pull its weight and start playing like Miami again.
While this is mostly true, there is no way UM has the ability to cheat at the level that Alabama does. Just not enough infrastructure or big money people to compete at that level.

It's going to be a long offseason with half of the board spewing bravado that we have a chance to beat them and the other half understanding that we are going to get wiped out in that game and hoping for no significant injuries while making that game something that can be built upon for the rest of the season.

Point taken but at the end of the day it doesn’t work without Saban. That’s it. If we had hired Saban 13 years ago, we’d have at least two more national titles by now.
If we had hired Saban that means the BOT and everyone else bent over forward for him so just two titles?.... more like 8-9 in 13 years...

You can't tell a kid where he has to go to school, even if they start paying the athletes. If a kid wants to major in underwater basket-weaving he's gotta go to an SEC school, right?

..a player draft instead of recruiting?? Interesting take. Does this hurt college football with them being so dominant?

Alabama is a college football monopoly. Is it time to break it up? (usatoday.com)

Funny the author didn't mention Bama paying recruits and moving entire families to Tuscaloosa and setting them up with jobs, houses, etc. Tennessee is doing what the other SEC schools are, and about to get punished to send a clear message to UGA and Bama to be more discreet.

Forget cheating. Miami just needs to learn how to block and tackle, and catch the football consistently.

First man to the football brings him down. Dominate the man in front of you. Catch everything that hits your hands. Basic, fundamental ******* football which we can't get right to save our lives.

Start doing those things right, and then we can talk about infrastructure and talent disparity. But we don't even play good, fundamental football.

Tonight is a microcosm of what separates Alabama from everyone else. Waddle has nothing to prove yet he is out there playing for his team despite possible further injury. Miami has players bolting for the NFL every year (King, Harley & Bolden this year are exceptions). Yes, coaching and resources are critically important, but you can't coach or buy this type of commitment and desire to be the best.

Thoughts?
I couldn’t agree more. Forget culture, adversity, and all those today “buzz” words. We won championships with none of the above. What we did have was what coach SAban said last night. We had players determined to win and a coach that they believed could get them there. To those swagger years great players it was a dream come true to be a Miami hurricane. they collectively, unselfishly united to prove to the world that despite a lack of funds, facilities, and all the BS bells and whistles of today that they could win it all, and, they did. A small school from south Florida invented swagger, won like no other ever did and put Miami on the map. Today’s players, not all, but a lot have dreams of the NFL. They use Miami as a stepping stone. The dreams of being a cane are a shadow of what they selfishly have their sights on. And, lets face it a lot end up failing. That’s where i dont see Manny as the one to resurrect the program. He admits that the team quits and lacks motivation. That is his responsibility. Until we have a true proven winner and leader ala Saban, we will never again be. Those Bama players know they have the man that can get them there. Saban is able to convince his troops year after year that if they unite and work hard he’ll get them to the championship. And, he does.

Player draft not a bad idea but we would probably see a military draft before that ever happening. Oh but wait there wont be a military draft cause you cant draft little billy and not little Susie. These players today with their entitlement attitude would never bury a draft. They hold out till they were in their 30’s till they got the right fix. And they would still think they are nfl stock..

I'd like to see more parity as much as anyone but a draft is not the way to get there. Saban wont last forever, neither will Bama's dominance.

We have an opportunity to perform well against them and use it as a launching pad to get ready for the UNC game. We bring back a lot of experience, and we really have an opportunity to make it to the ACCCHGM. UNC seems to always drop a couple of games they shouldn't and they lost all of their important skill position players except for Howell. You give Trevor his WR's from the 2018 year and I think they beat OSU.

I'm excited and the main thing is to not get too down if/when we get beaten by BAMA. This year's focus should be the Coastal. If we win the Coastal, if we win 10 games (assuming CFB goes back to a full schedule), with T-Rob and some other strong recruiters, we should have another strong recruiting class.

We built this year on the ashes of the previous year (albeit, we still underperformed), and this coming year HAS to build on this last season. I think we will and grabbing T-Ron and Reek, isn't the worst way to start.

I agree. You would think that there would be more schools out there looking to do the same thing. But they treat their sport department as a business. As long as the tv revenue is there all the other stuff is small potato’s. Till the fans stop buying on to the yearly hype and BS and stay home on game day, little will change. IMO

This. Saban will leave. Look at LSU - they were absolutely dominating the landscape for those few years, both on the field and in recruiting. Look at them now with a corch. All bama has to do is hire a corch next.

Hope its a rebuilding year for the tide, or that the tidal chart shows out on September 4th....
Don’t matter what the tide comes with, to open the season embarrassing yourself on national tv is something the canes really need to avoid for the sake of their never ending process of a rebuild to prominence. Who ever scheduled that game should be fired, but its all about the $$$$$$$$ not winning
