Alabama Football Announces Bill O’Brien as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach

Bro; don’t let the 15+ years of mediocrity suppress ur memory.

We had coaches on staff that went to the NFL and had very successful careers either as a HC or Coordinator. The players we sent to the NFL transcended the NFL. All eyes were on us. Bama has won 6 titles in 13 yrs. During our hey day, we won 4 titles in 9 yrs, which should’ve been 6 titles in 9 yrs (‘86 & ‘88), and we won 5 in 20. We didn’t flood the NFL w/ draft picks, bro....we flooded the NFL w/ HOFers. Lol. Our surge as HOFU came b/c of our run & we haven’t stopped yet! Snipping on the heels of blue blood schools like ND & SC for most HOFers & that’s all w/in a what? 25 yr window?

We were the modern day machine. Paul Dee tricked that chit off, and there, I said it.
We had the best evaluator on the planet.....Saban and Butch super similar. They closed but their evaluations were second to none....I would say Butch is better on that front. But u need that ****nal in the logo to help recruit.

Oh for sure; but let’s be honest bruh bruh; who did Saban learn under? Bill Belichick, arguably the greatest NFL coach in NFL history. And who did Bill learn under? Bill Parcels, who some would argue is in that same category.

Now with us, who did Schnelly learn from? Mr “All I Do is Win Win” Coach Shula. Who did Shula learn from? George Wilson, the very 1st AP NFL Coach Of The Year & the last coach to win a NFL title for Detroit. Who did Butch learn from? JJ, who finally got his HOF calling & had the tight faced JJ not screwed him, would probably be considered the best HC in NFL history. And who did JJ learn from? Jackie Sherrill who is the last coach during the Pitt Panther era that dominated.

See the pattern?

Pedigree matters, man. Not every assistant or coordinator under a football mind becomes successful, but U’ll have better success going that route than not. When Saban took the Bama job & I’m in my deep feelings at Shannon being our coach (b/c I’ve ALWAYS believed to never hire a coach from a failed regime), I cursed out loud b/c I knew Saban + Bama’s history = massacre.

We have the history part, which all these lame duck coaches try to use, but they are lame duck coaches, that are tarnishing our history

Yeah, I remember. But it's not the same. We were at the time a bottom up program where competent coaches made their mark and moved to pros. Bama is top down where coaches from pros go back for rehab or X-college HC's continue getting a paycheck as analysts while they wait for a better gig. Kind of the opposite side of the coin but very effective, obviously.

i knew they would dominate cfb when he got hired. While everyone sat on there *** bama was irrelevant kids did not dream of playing there. Saban changed everything and brought in top talent immediately. They hit the ground running, he is probably the greatest investment they ever had. I dont get why schools dont see that if u hire a savage u get the money back.

Client’s grand daughter that just transferred from Bama to Oregon, said Saban used to go to a chapel on campus to get his worship on, and ppl would have to stop so he could walk in uninterrupted. Lol. The guy is king there. The three biggest investments in CFB gotta be The HC, The QB, & The AD.

That's prolly where the stash of cash is....they prolly have kidnapped 5 stars under the basement forcing them to announce to go to bama.

BOB as Alabama OC gives us a little bit of hope in our opener. He was terrible as Texans HC.
C'mon man, this is as ridiculous as the Marrone thread.

In order to get a head coaching gig in the NFL, you had to be doing pretty **** well as a position coach and then coordinator. Top that off with an all-star paid college football roster, and you have have yourself a **** of a hire. I hate it as much as you do, but would love to have this problem at Miami, that is, "failed" NFL head coaches wanting to come coach at UM when we lose staff....

There was some fun talk in sports media after the 2001 season about what if Miami Hurricanes played against the then Cincinnati Bengals, who would win. Let that sink in. The Hurricanes were that good.

I understand what you mean. Funny a little bit. Best team in college cannot defeat the WORST team in the nfl. Just drole.

Exactly my guy. Til this day, they still ask that ?.

We blew our chance to capitalize on it. Bama will fall when Sabans gone u can book it....it will take two to three years after he's gone though. Same like Butch when his talent left Coker showed cracks in the armor.

No they won’t. Dabo will take over and they will continue to roll.

No they won't they can't maintain that trust me. Sabans a elite closer but it isn't that it's his evals which are even godly. He hits more then he misses and he maybe doesn't get loaded with NFL hall of famers....he gets elite to great cfb players. Sometimes u wonder why he doesn't really go full court press for some five stars....most of the time he has a good reason.

Dabo cant evaluate like him no way he can....and I don't think he leaves Clemson

As far as players yea, but were we pulling NFL coaches like this ? Former head coaches at that ? Maybe I’m too young to know

No; not even close. We were the reverse. Our guys were headed to the NFL; we weren’t pulling them from The NFL w/ the exception of Schnelly.

When we got to the top our administration stopped investing in the program...we only invest when we are down. They invested to get to the top annd once they got there they kept investing.
Thats really what it comes down too.
When we won the championship in 2001 that was the moment to invest and build facilities etc.
So you can stay on top.

Yeah they're playing on a whole different playing field, hired Doug Marrone as their OL coach. Another nfl HC running to saban for redemption.

Once upon a time, we used to be that

We’ve been dominant for about 18-24 months of the last 30 years.
