Alabama - Every recruit should read

People either want to stick their chest out and point the finger or pretend it's not there-----that's why racism exists. That's what the $ec does when they recruit.

I remember reading that Bear sent kids to Miami because he knew he couldn't get them on the team. Canes one of the first in the south to embrace black athletes.
 
I'm obviously not going to win this argument. No biggie. I respect all people. I work with all different people being in the military. I was raised in a poor black area in Tampa. We can all argue this until we are blue in the face. Fact of the matter is, until we all get our **** together, this is going to continue to be a problem. We all are the problem. This has been talked about and been an issue for the last 40 yrs. Until we all grow the **** up and treat everyone the same, this will continue to be an issue....
 
You guys and this post are off base in the context that you are judging Alabama as a university. What you should judge is the whole fraternity/sorority system which is independent of the school. There is no hard standard for membership in terms of the things you can control which in this case was academic achievement and presumably character. You have to be attractive to the f/s members and if you are fortunate to be invited to rush you have only a couple of opportunities to make your case for membership. If you're not attractive physically you may be dead on arrival. You can be a good student but you better have something else. If your family has a lot of money that's a plus but you better not be overweight. You get the idea. It's the ultimate popularity contest. By the way you may be invited to pledge but that doesn't guarantee membership. It only takes a couple of members during the pledge period to blackball you for any reason they choose. That's worse because it's a stigma you have to carry for the rest of your college career. My guess is that it exist at Miami as well as any college. My point is that f/s are discriminatory by nature. Being black is only one of many disqualifiers.
 
Not talkin about racism will make it go away. Try this strategy with everything in life see how it turns out 4u. Try this strategy with your bills n with your wife tell me how it turns out.Smh

I live in Birmingham and work in peoples homes daily. I have a mixed background so people have no idea where I'm from, but you should hear some of the **** these ignorant fools say. Trust me, racism is alive and well in the south, and those "boys" are just getting paid...I mean played.
 
The thing is it irks me when people say racism doesn't exist or they don't want to talk about. Stop closing your minds to the problem. It's well alive in this country still. I and many other black men have been stereotyped a numerous amount of times. Some people don't know what it's like to walk in a store and all of the workers are eyeing you to see if you would steal or anything of that matter. So it's easy for some to say don't talk about or it doesn't exist because its not happening to you.

Go travel around South/Central America some time and see how blacks are treated. Do you really think all the hispanics in Dade have changed their thoughts about blacks because they are now in the states. You **** simpleton.

Blacks folks are not the ones who enslaved a human race and made them work for nothing while others made a profit either. I mean we didnt do that to anybody and thought we had the right to own somebody....It's always going to be a problem with most black folks. Some of the blacks grandmothers or grandfathers were slaves and were mistreated. And will have somewhat of a disconnect with some people for how their family was treated in the past.

This whole country is and fk world is about dividing people and making u choose a side. Insports or religion or party or fkin sony or xbox or iphone or droid or this forum is better than that one all da same **** daily. Anyway a good question she should of asked after he said ni99a was y does he root for black players on lsus team? especially if he feels a certain way about them, he already opened his heart pretty quick and showed who he really was. You really cant fkin argue with cats like that and thats without alcohol. There always right and its like most on here too they are always right and your wrong, that tells u how they are and there like that in everything they side with.

There is no solution the world is conditioned to be this way. U cant kill hate......maybe 1 day in the future but not now.

Most grow up in those racist states, so it is no biggie, i guess.
