The guy couldn’t outcoach his way out of a paper bag but he could evaluate and recruit. Duke Johnson, Gus Edwards, Rayshawn Jenkins, Hurns, Herndon. These are all guys who are NFL players. There are plenty more. I dont see the playmakers on this team.

He may have been able to recruit at the top end but boy oh boy was he the king of filling the bottom half of the class with useless bodies at positions of need: James King, Terrance Henley, Bar Milo, Hayden Mahoney, D'Mauri Jones, Jerome Washington, Jake O'Donnell, Joe Brown, Jahair Jones, Brendan Loftus, Ryan Fines, Jelani Hamilton, Ryan Mayes, and countless others.

To Richt/Manny's credit they seem to bring in much fewer guys who just don't contribute whatsoever over the course of 4 years.

Golden was good at finding diamonds in the rough. But overall his recruiting was average.

Golden, richt, diaz. All three had the same problem, and it’s not recruiting or evals. We’ll see soon if diaz can do what the others couldn’t.

I am not defending Golden he was a crappy HC but he did have an eye for talent. not sure I can say the same about Manny Diaz so far

Golden did something amazing. He had a losing season and still put the 2nd most players in the NFL after Bama that year. Original post is correct, good evaluator, decent recruiter, decent talent developer, horrible winner.
