Coaching evaluation is a "grass is always greener" situation. Are there better coaches than Golden who will be available? I'm sure. The problem is identifying them beforehand (not after the fact). Butch has no shot coming here, given his tenure at UNC and our recent history with sanctions. People love Schiano because of what he did at Rutgers. That's the same rationale for hiring Golden. Leach looked like a stud at TTech. Would anyone want him now? And so on.

On loyalty to Golden, while I agree with the OP that it's not by itself a reason to keep a coach, it does mean something here. Another coach (the wrong coach) could have gotten us the death penalty. That's worth more lenience. It's results, at the end of the day, are what matter.

Recruiting will always be the same at Miami with any coach who has a brain. That is no excuse to keep this idiot. For 3 years he complained and whined. And he and No D are arrogant. I don't disagree, I try to support every coach at the U. But, there comes a time when you look at what's happening on the field and realize it's not all on the players. Do you think McNeese State has players anywhere near the caliber of the guys on Miami's D? **** no! We're not comparing FSU's D and Miami's D here, were comparing Miami and McNeese State... and McNeese State did a better job against Nebraska. There's nothing more to say than that. McNeese St. did better than Miami against a one dimensional offense. I'm not a slurper, but I tried to remain positive because I just want the Canes to win. After watching the Nebraska game, sure tackles were missed, but it's pretty obvious our defense isn't going to get better without a coaching change.
Seriously, when a division 1 team does better defensively than our Hurricanes defense, there's only one place to look.. coarches!

I don't disagree, I try to support every coach at the U. But, there comes a time when you look at what's happening on the field and realize it's not all on the players.
