Can't breathe. Please back the porsters!
They are the true fans.
They are the true fans.
Franchise just wrecked the chit out of the "stop talking just win" crowd, long overdue.
Thats ****ing awesomeThe Don needs to quit talking in interviews and just win during interviews. Stop answering questions and promoting the Hurricanes brand, and just start winning more games during the interviews. Might be a good idea if he quits doing interviews altogether and goes into a shell like his reclusive predecessor Shanntard.

Those ******* retards have been making me sick for a long time. The Don is supposed to walk around with duct tape over his mouth at media day because he's not undefeated according to these morons. They act like he's trying to hoodwink them instead of realizing that he does interviews and says the things he says in a carefully measured manner in order to build this program back up where it belongs. He's been fighting a whole lot of enemies and ghosts during his 2 plus years here, and I'm happy every time I hear him talk about my alma mater and how we are the top academic institution in Florida.
Keep in mind the loudmouth critics are the same bozos who were on the "Fire Al" train halfway through the Maryland game just to keep things in context.

We might be the only fan base that considers it excuse-making when you mention that 8 players got suspended a week before the game.

This map is from here that is a Stanford study of where the top recruits are located along with the best football schools. It is not a simplistic mapping, but a mathematical algorithm that is one estimation to the best areas to recruit in. The conclusion of this study, which was done in 2009-2010 with data that is a few years old? "The maps tell you the best places to recruit. If you're a coach and looking for your next job you might want to pick a school with a high "effective recruiting population" that has been underperforming." Sounds like Al Golden used that strategy in accepting the job at Miami.

Im a Golden guy, Im an unabashed fan of his. What we need to do is like the Don himself, collect a list of folks on this site who have trashed him and been unfair to him with their garbage. Its excruciating to hear some of the tripe we have read on here

Excellent points. All this promoting the brand is taking time away from game planning and winning games. Win some effing games and the rest will take care of itself.

in terms of elite schools recruiting south florida, that is often overstated by fans here. the narrative is that sec schools, fsu, etc. are raiding south florida but you look over most of the rosters and lsu for example has literally a handful. same for other schools like bama and uga. even uf doesn't have that many and the ones they do are primarily from around the palm beach area. i think fans tend to remember the ones that get away more because they are usually high profile. but in terms of pure numbers the major schools aren't raiding south florida, miami still gets most of the talent from the city of miami and some of the surrounding areas.
That's the point.
They're cherry-picking difference-makers like Patrick Peterson.
We could've used Keith Bryant, Jaynard Bostwick, Matthew Thomas, and Amari Cooper.
You can't get them all, and things can change on NSD, but right now it's looking like 0/4 on Dalvin Cook, Khairi Clark, Ermon Lane, and Sony Michel.
BTW I'm not crying about losing recruits. We're doing fine. But we need to start winning again and get past these bull**** sanctions so local studs have fewer reasons to look elsewhere.
i get your point. but usually, when there's a patrick peterson there's a janoris jenkins (who miami ignored) or even that kid that went to virginia tech and balled out. i think miami's problem is missing on those guys when a patrick peterson leaves. there's too much talent to go wanting at any time.

K9,
What kills me is that alot, if not all, of these folks ripping Golden will also opine that they miss Butch Davis.
Never mind that Butch got ripped during his stint as the UM HC, probably from these same folks.
Some of our "fans" are something else.
You are spot on Steve. Butch was terrible in game mgmt., especially in the last minute of 1st half when he played safe, it cost us big vs ECU when instead of burying them he gave them life and they capitalized. He went for 2 twice vs Wash in 2000 early in game and late in game we would have only needed a FG to win. Al came into a no win situation and has show remarkable resiliency in ignoring naysayers and staying the course with his plan. This year and next will bear the fruits of hard work in my opinion and we should be a perennial power on the national scene once again.

I was critical of Mr Davis- ****, I coined Botchilism - but that was in the context of some terrible game-day management. But in terms of how he he was judged( from a pure Win-Loss perspective) I'd like to think I always understood what he was facing from 95-99 in terms of what he inherited from ERRickson and the NCAA sanctions.
There are some folks where everything is black or white to them, no grey area, no context
This year is huge for Golden and UM( I expect a 10 win season) but to be overly critical of him because of a 13-11 season the past two years, that's mind-boggling to me. Because those very same fans will tell you how bad things were left by Shannon.....
I feel that way even if we go 6-6 for 2 more years and he ends up fired because this team needed to be built back up.We might be the only fan base that considers it excuse-making when you mention that 8 players got suspended a week before the game.

Seems Miami fans appreciate what we had long after it's gone. I suppose most fanbases are that way.
I have a feeling 10 years from now we will look back at what Golden did during this critical stretch of time for the university, and pretty much everyone will be in agreement that he got the job done when it was needed.
