Al Golden Press Conference 8/28

There is nothing else to go off of other than vibe or feel til Monday night so not sure why anyone is getting their panties in a bunch.

Slurpers are Golden fans.

Mopes are Miami Hurricane fans.

This is quite a dilemma. Maybe there will be some reconciliation after Monday.

Pretty sad that Miami fans will diminish a solid win against a ranked UF team to attack our coaches and team.

Solid win? Was FSU's victory over us a solid win? I mean, we were ranked #7 at the time, so it's a solid win, right?

The UF game was a gift from Chris Rix 2.0. That doesn't mean I'm not happy it happened, but I'm not going to make it into something it isn't like a lot of people attempt to.

I started following the canes and college football seriously around 98. The progression around the program - recruiting - marketing - facilities - has grown under Golden. How much he's had to do with it I don't know. His blueprint is definitely positive.

I will say this - college teams cannot go from zero to #1 in 2-3 years anymore. It is not possible with how elite the top players are - and how concentrated the recruiting classes are. We have to build a string of top tier classes (not by silly star rankings - but by production) to be relevant.

With our talent and recruiting I see us becoming very relevant in the next couple years. We may be a step behind that other FL school - but we are gaining ground quickly.

Bull****. He's had the same trajectory at UM that Randy Shannon has. He's fielded some of the worst defenses in Miami history, and has ONE win at UM against a team with 8 or more wins. So yes, there's plenty of reasons to think he won't win big here.

This is only part of the story. AG has recruited far better than Randy did. Randy signed the 2008 class, quit recruiting, and then watched his dream class, for the most part, do absolutely nothing. AG, instead of losing momentum, seems to be building it. There's a much different vibe around the program now than there was going into Randy's 4th year. If I'm the only one feeling that vibe, so be it.

He's recruited about the same. Golden couldn't even recruit over guys like AJ Highsmith, Kacy Rodgers, Jimmy Gaines, or Shayon Greene, so cool it with the "AG has recruited better" stuff. It's not backed up by fact.

Going into Randy's fourth year, UM was a top 12 team with a positive outlook for the season. We're unranked right now going into Golden's fourth year. I like some things Golden has done this offseason, particularly recruiting, but the "vibe" stuff is revisionist history.

Difference being Randy inherited a team that still had lots of talent, and continued the downslide with it. Golden inherited a team in a death spiral, with limited talent and an NCAA issue (an enormous one at that, no matter how some of you try to downplay it now) and is just now getting out from under that **** pile.

Golden inherited a team in a "death spiral" and that team produced his best defense yet. We haven't gotten out from under any **** pile. We have one win over a team with 8 or more wins in the last 3 years, got blown out by Duke, got blown out with the ACC coastal on the line, got blown out by our chief rival (which we lost to for the fourth year in a row), and then got blown out in the bowl game. We've been awful, and the NCAA cloud doesn't affect how badly Golden has coached this team thus far.

Exactly...just look at the amount of tackle for losses we had. Prime example

Randy inherited a team with talent? You got to be kidding me... We had a 250 lb DT and he was still more productive than anything we have trotted out since 2010... I don't see how a coach can inherit the 2nd and 3rd all-time passers in school history, the single season receiving leader in school history, a 1000 yard rusher, a great line backer and three all-conference linemen, talented linemen and two major commitments from Duke and Dorsett, but had lack of talent... Al had all of that... We should have won more than 6 games in 2011 but this staff was out coached on numerous occasions...

RS failed as a HC and he had his own obstacles that he had to comeback which was just as detrimental as the "cloud"(we were never going to get a death penalty no one does that any more). However, he was fired because his team underachieved in 2010 and fans stop going to game... We were predicted to make some noise and we didn't... That being said, no more excuses... I'm not impressed with this coaching staff but I do think they deserve 6 years just so we can say we are loyal to the new HC if Al fails after the 6 year... He also deserves time to mature as a coach... For someone with experience he is still learning...

***** post.....you can't be a cane fan because ANY win over the gaytors is solid. You straight up suspect as a fan.

Pretty sad that some Miami fans have accepted mediocrity and ****ty coaching and learned to live with it...all while making counting excuses on it's behalf.

Yea let's fire a coach every 4 yrs. seems to helped in the past.
By the way you probably helped pay for a banner a yr ago expressing your love right. Lololo

If you don't hire a ****** one 3 times in a row...there's no need to fire said ****** coach every 4th year.

Complicated. I know.

Ah, now he's a "****** one". Of course, at the time of his hiring he was considered, far and away, one of the top young coaches in college football. So not only are you not giving him time to make his mark given the **** storm he inherited, but on top of it you are analyzing the hire with the benefit of your skewed and ignorant hindsight.

Ah, now he's NOT the "****** one". Of course, going into the 4th full season after his hiring you are still considering him an asset to the program despite the fact that all evidence points to the contrary. So not only are you giving him credit for something he HASN'T done, but you're completely ignoring the fact that he has yet to actually beat ONE DECENT opponent during his time year.

1-11 against teams with over 7 wins. Swallow that stat and digest it.....the way you do with everything comes out of the mouth of Don Bailey Jr or Joe Z.

These are the same idiots that wanted Shannon given extra time...and what's really mind boggling about your post above is the first sentence. Who annointed him "far and away one of the top young coaches"? SOME of us looked at the hiring with cautious optimism but still skeptical and reserving judgement.

I know these are all concepts which are difficult for the sunshine pumpers to understand...read it through 4 or 5 times and go back and compare it against ACTUAL RESULTS. It will sink in....trust me.

When you're wielding a light sabre, all bets are off. Once you start spinning that glorious sabre over your head it gets good to you, and everyone becomes a target including your own team.

I think some of the biggest anti-Miami people in college football are our own fans.
You got cry babies in here acting like someone shot their dog before the season even starts. I've never seen actual fans of a college team acting like this a couple days before the season starts.

They're so caught up in being right about Al that they've lost track of the purpose of having a hobby like being a college football fan.

We know your position. ****, some of us even share it. But for fck's sake put your fcking wet blankets down until at least the first half of the first game ends.

Everyone knows what happened last year, but to be languishing in that **** a couple days before the season starts is a sure sign of debilitating mental disease. Holy ****, you guys are sad, and I truly feel sorry for you. Seek help. I'm here for you if you need me. Just shoot me a pm. I'll keep your identity secure.

It's a tired schtick, that's all I can say. People who would rather be right and say,'I told you so," rather than have Miami be a great team under a certain coach

Just a bunch of sad miserable dudes caught up in a circle jerk with other miserable dudes. Then, when they get faced with fans who think this is the greatest time of year and are genuinely excited to get the season going even with all the question marks hanging overhead, they get even more dour and matronly and dig in even deeper trying to convince everyone how right they are.

If this is their hobby that is supposed to be fun I'd hate to see the rest of their lives. They must be joy to be around in real life .
