Al Golden is a BOSS

Just need the results on the field. He has the vision and presence to be special. Every special coach needs good assistants though

Results on the field come after the organizational structure and process are repaired. Not before.

Lmao. He cant repair them in 3 years?

Might take 2 more years before we can reasonably expect to hold powerhouse offenses like UVA and Vag Tech under 500.

You have made it abundantly clear that you hate coach d and aren't a big fan if golden, any chance you can stop bringing it up in every thread.

I agree with you that the defense needs serious help and I am also not happy with the current scheme and coaching staff on d, but it doesn't need to be mentioned in every thread.

I'm your genie in a bottle. What are your other 2 wishes, master?

Lmao all you want. This is at minimum a 5 year rebuild and has been from the get go. You can go back to jerking off to 30 for 30 reruns.....some of us will be happy to live in 2014 with an understanding of where we've been for the last decade.

I dont expect 30 for 30 days. I dont want us to get our **** pushed in by duke though in year 3

Unfortunately we have a case of nice guys finishing last. Al would make a great politician, and at some schools an excellent coach. Unfortunately for him and us he chose a school whose fan base expects more than 8 win seasons and raising kids of high moral character. We are becoming Virginia and Wake Forrest.

How silly.
no its not

Al is going to have these boys in soup kitchen field trips and ****.

Yes, it is silly. In fact it's ridiculous to say that because Al cares about the kids and treats them well he's not a good coach. None of that is contrary to a winning, championship program.

Point out where I said that BECAUSE he cares about his kids he's not a good coach. It's possible even desirable to have that in a coach. He cares about his kids, but he's is also a poor gameday coach. There's no causative effect here bub, he just happens to be a really nice guy, who sucks at footballing. That is a statement of fact. He has yet to come through against a quality opponent, except the UF game and we know how they ended their season. Great head coaches possess all the executive personal traits that Golden has, but he has yet to figure out how to farm out the roles he's deficient. Until then, we are a 10 win ceiling kind of program, and that's ok, for Golden and James, and Shalala, at least thats the way it appears. He's going to find out, if he hasn't already that its not ok with the fan base.

You all dont realize, but sh*t like this gets around. Owens has teammates and coaches in HS. Local papers and other recruits hear about this stuff. Future recruits and players hear about this stuff. It starts to get around that at the U, they dont just treat you like a piece of meat, that its a family that cares about eachother, that the HC isnt all about winning, he cares about his players and their families. Their well being. No, its not going to sway 90% of kids or their families, but when things are tight and its a coin toss on where a kid goes, hearing about an HC that will go visit your father in the hospital. The type of HC who will run out into the middle of the field and cradle one of his players while his ankle his twisted backwards and he's howling in agony. That could make some parents and kids say, "that's the kind of family I want to be a part of", "that's the kind of man I want looking after my baby for the next 4 years".

AG is a class act. I really hope we can fix this defense, because if we can, the sky is really the limit here. I really want this guy to succeed here.

You're right it will attract players like Jimmie Gaines, Shayon Green and Olsen Pierre. Guys of high moral character and low ceiling, but the ******* killers it takes to run CFB, dont give a **** if their own mommas come see them in the hospital. Only thing they care about is how quickly they can get back to murdering folks on the field. Am I happy we have a nice guy as a head coach? Absolutely, Golden is an asset to our program, but Im not going to sit and and pretend he lacks football knowledge on game day. It's a great and warming story, sells some papers, but it wont bring us a 'ship! We have yet to see Al Golden trot out 11 killers on the field for an entire game. A team takes on the persona of its head coach, if you want 11 nice guys on the field Golden is your guy.

Honestly rewind a few months and go back to being a solid poster.

You probably should use players that were recruited by Golden.

Amen. Al is tops in every cat save that defense, and we don't know about player development yet. In every other way he has established himself as best of the best. He is certainly a class act who cares about his young men. The seen with Lewis on the field will never leave my brain. Not sure I have ever seen anything come close to that. It should be on the wall coming into the football department and every piece of recruiting literature.

I really don't understand your perspective, and certainly disagree with it. Recruit criminals?

'Cause smart, principled players are sh*t? That's it? (Jonathan Vilma speaks four languages, maybe you could explain your perspective to him.)

Or is this more code-speak about the coach and his background. You know, this stuff gets real old

Do you honestly believe that Play Maker, Thrill, Vilma, Reed, or any of our greats would not to this day be moved by this sort of thing? Our great players were not thugs roaming the streets raping and murdering people. They like that thug image a lot more than they lived it. OU, UF they always took thugs not Howard and JJ. Choir boys maybe not, but not the type you paint them. Barrow was a vicious hitting not a killer. The boys danced and make other players look the fool. It was FSU that hit late, with St Bobby's sanction, and took cheap shot, not the Canes. We have had player be murdered!!! Not players THAT murder. And, JJ and Butch's graduation rates were very high, up with the goody goody boys at PSU. We had to horrible coaches that could not recruit or coach in a row. I think we still have a horrible DC, but that is were our problem is, coaching not the lack of criminal players.

I dont care who recruited them, Al Golden continues to play them.

A lot of you have an issue with reading comprehension. Where did I post that I want AG recruiting thugs? Killer instinct is what I want to see from Golden and the guys he recruits and plays. The type of attitude where losing is not an option. This staff and this team has been satisfied with moral victories for far too long. You know what all those great players you listed had in common. They hated losing more than they enjoyed winning. Now our starting QB says "you win some, you lose some" while stuffing his ******* face with a candy bar. You don't think his trisomy head would have been put through a locker as soon as he got back into the locker room by Jerome Brown if he was on this team in '86?

I'm not complaining about the program or the team, Im just pointing out my observations and refusing to ignore what we have become. We are a mediocre team in colleges worst division in a middle of the road conference.

No, that is not a statement of fact, it's your ridiculous opinion that Golden can't coach, and that we are 'becoming Virginia and Wake Forest'.

It's also really, really stupid to say that Golden is "ok" with being a 10-win ceiling kind of program. He's been quite clear about his goals, which are to return to being perennially in the running for championships, including national championships.

People who strive for better results don't trot out the same coaches and players that manufactured the worst defense in school history. I dont give a **** what Golden's stated goals are, his actions reek of complacency.

Funny how his "goals" went from a national championship to winning the coastal.
