Demetrius Jackson and Terry McCray were both recruited and offered by Miami as unheralded 2-star recruits.

Demetrius Jackson got his 4th star on 247 today, and Terry McCray has 9 sacks for his HS team an offer from SEC powerhouse LSU.

That's a great sign evaluation-wise. Further evidence of the good ****.

Need to keep McCray. We have to shut LSU out of these SO FL schools. Tired of these smucks. I hope Golden steals that RB beast from New Orleans. Miles will have heart attack. But to the point, this staff is great at evals. The rest of college football is snifting their rears now, hunting for players.

Going back to Al's first year, Armbrister was a 0 star guy that is probably playing better than a lot of 4-5 star LBs from 2011 right now.

The staff has a system in place for scouting/recruiting, they are going to stick to their system. The difference now is they are in a better talent pool than at Temple. Another difference is they're not last in the buffet line.

Sure [at Miami] they're competing with more teams for that better talent, but at Temple they were probably 5th/6th in line for some players. Since Penn State, Rutgers, Cuse, Pitt and OSU would have the ability to take from the area before Temple. All of those programs also had a lot more to sell and Temple was no powerhouse (although some say differently).

So Al Golden will have these camps, recruits will go to these camps probably as early as the 8th/9th grade. The staff will watch these recruit develop over time and the staff will develop relationships with these recruits too.

Sometimes the staff will see a 2 star and offer him because the kid goes to the camp and looks good. Sometimes the staff will see a 2 star's film and offer him because they think they should. These are the choices of the staff and they will live and die by these choices (along with many others).

Here is our active 2 Star and under list:

1. T. Armbrister
2. W. Tucker
3. U. Kamalu
4. C. King
5. D. Turner
6. D. Jackson
7. Ryan Williams (was a 2 Star Recruit)
8. O. Pierre (2 star coming out of HS)
9. T. Gadbois (2 star coming out of HS or http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/143815/taylor-gadbois)
10. L. Gunter (did he have a ranking in HS or http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/145137/ladarius-gunter)
11. A. Crawford (http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/110767/antonio-crawford)
12. C. Jenkins (http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/164737/courtel-jenkins)
13. A. Figueroa (no star in HS)

Other teams are now looking at our offers. That's where you want to be in the world of recruiting.

Guys, I "stole" it from Rivals, CIS, you, me, and everywhere else lol. Allow me to bestow credit on.. everyone:-). I don't care or claim to pretend I scour the stats to "deliver the news" I am not an original "source." I just wanted to start a convo because it was exciting stuff. Forgive me. Sorry if it bothered anyone. Seriously, the catalyst for the post was where I read that McCray had 9 sacks. Wow! Had no idea he was that productive on a bad team.

Lets take this conversation a little further...

Where was Kaaya "rated" when we offered him?? 2-star? 3-star? Now he's Elite 11, 4-star, offered by the West Coast powerhouses...

Now today I read that Barnegat (NJ) High School Class of 2015 QB Cinjun Erskine has an offer from Miami... and UMASS. And that's it. I would not bet against this kid blowing up. I am REALLY excited about our staff's ability to evaluate early, trust their judgements... and develop too.

So you just happened to "steal" your thoughts on those two particular recruits an hour or so after i post them, post them here in almost the exact same manner as I tweeted them?

Truth.

Al said that at Temple, they were actually losing recruits to 1-AA schools. That's how hard it was to recruit there. A lot of our fans have no idea what he was up against at Temple.

False, Temple was a powerhouse. That could never happen at a powerhouse school.
