But the traffic violations are being focused on because a kid on the team died just months ago lol. How are you ignoring THAT part? But I highly doubt a cop is willing to talk about that even off record. Small town **** it’ll be too obvious
The culture of a sports team does not extend to every single aspect of a person associated with the team's life, especially to the point that an individual's action(s) are not their own but instead are the result of said culture.I think this is an obtuse read of this. Culture in sports only extends to what you do when you’re in the facility or doing football related stuff? I’m sure coaches and players, including those who played on our great teams would definitely disagree with that.
On the heels of someone on the team driving due to this stuff, I just disagree that it’s a non-starter. Fans are irrational though so I can’t really gauge my opinion on the journalism based on what our fan base would think. My point is, and let’s just keep it funky, if this same type of journalism came out about our guys, we would have a fit. This is a non-starter.
Great, so we agree. My question for you is how do you arrive at your determination that this one doesn’t?Many things do. Not all.
Yea, I think that you’re making some faulty conclusions here. Accountability doesn’t have to be absolute one way or another. Obviously individuals are accountable for their own behavior. And obviously this reckless driving/street racing seems to be an issue that is permeating through the team, with these guys partaking in this together, aware that they can get away with it or not face strong punishment. That also seems to be a program wide issue. When you have repeated incidents that occur on a broader scale, of course people are going to look at the coach, university and any other parties involved to understand why it’s happening at this scale. You are holding institutions and people to different standards and if you agree with the article, are trying to put the onus of individual accountability on an institution. None of yall like hearing this when it comes to the transgressions of players/staff at the University of Miami as some sort larger, macro cultural problem. Extend that to other programs and don't hold people to different standards like this article is doing.

I don’t think you can really speak to what I like hearing when it’s about Miami.
I understand that. Student athletes representing the university football team being are public figures unfortunately. I’m sure Kirby’s defense isn’t that speeding is on the rise across the state. And to be honest, the more they get away with something like this that you don’t see as a big deal, the more eyes it’ll draw in the future as well.According to this article - only a few years old - the number of high speed traffic violations has been on the rise across the entire state.
Not sure why this is a UGA institutional issue.

Pate isn’t going to burn his sources in Athens, but I expect he might be a little tougher on Kirby and staffers than we might have come to expect.I love me some Pate State but he is a true politician. His greatest ability is to make every fanbase feel like he is in their corner while still having interesting opinions and not appearing to be a total softie. I would be shocked if goes in hard on Georgia
Nope. He turned it on the writers for the AJC.....Pate isn’t going to burn his sources in Athens, but I expect he might be a little tougher on Kirby and staffers than we might have come to expect.
Notice how pathetic Kirby’s penalties are but how about the police/prosecutors and the charges. None of these reckless drivers were tested to see if they were under the influence of alcohol or Marijuana. Someone loses a life and a player receives a year probation and a $1000 fine. Sure hope the victims family were huge UGA fans to fill that whole in their soul. It’s additionally disrespectful that the media only has this little bit of coverage, but I’m sure most of it was wiped under the rug and these media members don’t want to lose access to the best team in football right now. Access before integrity.Saban didn't teach his assistants to add a governor to the Chargers, that's why he's the GOAT. Keep some tricks to yourself
Exactly as I expectedNope. He turned it on the writers for the AJC.....
