AJC Pulls the curtain back on Kirby & UGA "Reckless Culture"

300 known. Plenty of kids being let off the hook with nothing though. It’s a college town where they’re kings. One of my boys has a close friend on the police force down there who caught a high profile player racing and was straight up told that he couldn’t arrest him.

And this doesn’t even include the DV, sexual assault stuff that gets swept under the rug…
Like I said… a lot being swept under the rug down there. The street racing was just a microcosm of that.

Been the talk all week in ATL. They had the writers of the article on sports radio yesterday. He stood on everything in the article

Atlanta and Athens have very different cultures despite being less than 2 hours apart.
I’m not surprised people in Atlanta have issues with how UGA conducts itself.
And as long as they keep winning, no one at UGA will care.
Pretty much! No one cares to read a **** thing about Atlanta’s college football team, because it’s perennially in the *******, so yeah it’s “look at the dastardly deeds that those thuggish leg humpers over in Athens are getting away with.” Look, we all did dumb **** at that age, especially when ***** was on the line, or just the thought of potentially procuring it was at stake. And it’s all fun and games, until someone gets hurt. I’m pretty sure there needs to be more punishment and maybe a suspension or two, dished out on Kirby’s end, for the worst transgressions there, because in Athens, u better bet that there is some stuff that’s been swept under the rug. The stuff we’re hearing about in this article, ain’t what I think about when I see a headline about a football team running amok. This is normal stuff for a bunch of liquored up kids, having the times of their lives.

I can say with a decent amount of confidence that the AJC won’t retract ****.

This was written as a “state our position“ missive to the general public and UGA fans and boosters in particular. I don’t believe that the UGA athletic association legal department realistically expects a retraction.

off topic: ATL is a unique test ground for British bar gaming (putt shack, flight club). cool and weird to see both of those start first in ATL as their initial US test. that revamped west midtown area is money now. also, humble pie is **** good pizza

Yeah I would argue that these days “Atlanta” has extended as far as Cobb, Douglas, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties, but that is the hard ring around the city. And that has happened mostly from migration; both in terms of people moving out of Atlanta for affordability reasons but taking their viewpoints with them to traditionally conservative places, and from people mowing into the area.
When I moved to the area in 1993, “Atlanta” was literally just Fulton and Dekalb counties.

yeah agreed. my sister in law lives in west midtown and theyre looking for a house now in the city, and its impossible to find anything under a million within the midtown area. a lot more are moving out of the perimeter into the burbs

Yep. Nothing in that area under a million with a yard.

Still hilarious that all he got was a misdemeanor reckless driving charge.

S-E-nothing to-C-here.
