I have seen his videos. He is a good passing coordinator, but his run game is trash and his defenses always suck. He gets all the 2 stars because he sucks at recruiting. Dennis Erikson recruited well at WSU and we all know Erikson is not a great recruiter. Mike Price recruited great at WSU and won the Pac twice in a MUCH tougher Pac than it is today.

Mike Leach is the kind of coach that wins only where there aren't any expectations. Hiring Leach is basically saying "We don't care if we beat anyone with a pulse, we just want to be exciting". Never mind the fact that by hiring Leach, Miami would be talent bare by year 4 because he cannot recruit whatsoever. Mike Leach is a glorified OC masquerading as a HC. Dude doesn't win anything that matters, it's not an accident that the coaches that learned from him go on to success, but he never accomplished anything significant. Maybe because those guys learned that being a weird *** that doesn't recruit is a death sentence if you want to be a champion.

There are dozens of quality coaches out there that can lead Miami to success, and this joke of a fanbase continues to jock Butch Davis and Mike Leach. No wonder Blake James thought he could hire Manny Diaz with no search. He knows that the typical Miami fan doesn't know jack **** about college football anyway, might as well just hire someone nearby and then use the "He's a Miami guy, bro" rationale.

Leach slurpers make Uif Fans look like reasonable posters.

"we scored 5k yards, we would have won if our **** defense just held up and we had better recruits. None of that is Leachs fault though, so we will take the most yards trophy".
 
I'm so glad we didn't get whooped by a service academy in the bowl game. The slurpers would have had a field day about how miami kids aren't disciplined enough and we need to start recruiting high character kids like the air force.

We can look awful and boring losing 14-0 to G5 teams, or win/lose 55-48, and at least be entertaining.

In short, Leach would be the best OC'er we hired since who knows when. Guy does very well finding talent he can get to work for what he does.

Pipedream, due to what I said above. So it's all not even worth discussing. No interest as a head coach from me, although he would certainly have done better this year here.

Idiots on this board talking a as bout recruiting... recruiting hasn’t Been the issue. Look at the defensive turn around when richt became hc n brought manny as dc. We just need a real oc with a scheme best suited for our personnel

Also, can't forget that AF gets kids that are geared towards an offense that only runs and a WSU gets kids geared towards and offense than only passes.

Recruiting wasn't an issue for WSU when Price was HC. Just because it isn't an issue now, doesn't mean it won't be one once corch Leach steps on campus.
 
One reason Leach will always be a poor recruiter is he will never be a HC coach at an elite program with a fertile base.

Texas Tech had to compete with OU, Texas, TCU, Nebraska (when they were still good), TAMU, and national recruiting powers like OSU, ND, some SEC teams, and even Miami (at one time). Washington State has to share a smaller set of D1 players with Washington and Oregon, and other PAC schools. USC poached a few top players from the PNW when Carroll was HC.

The other reason is he’s a nut job.

Price and Erickson were good recruiters by WSU standards for their eras. The HC before Erickson was decent as well, and he actually recruited most of the players Erickson won with in 1988. Erickson was more X/O guy than recruiter, as we learned in Miami.

Erickson’s poor recruiting at The U makes me dismiss the notion Leach would ‘kill at Miami’.
