After watching this:

I live in Chattanooga. A Vol fan called the local ESPN radio show today and said the fastest and best defense he ever saw was the 02 Miami defense that destroyed Tennessee in Knoxville. He then argued that the Miami job was and still is a good job.

I was at that game - that was the infamous crutches game where several UT players were put in crutches that game.

I was there as well, first UT play went about 80 yds, then we held them, Game was one sided after that.

On another note, remember when we would throw to the FB, sh&t remember when we used a FB. I hate this crap offense we run now. I have no doubt that Butch would stack talent again, if given the chance. He obviously did it at Miami and to a lesser extent at UNC, that is just what he does. I love the potential of a guy like Herman, but the only answer is Butch.

I was at that game. We (unfortunately) had our seats surrounded by Vol fans and the mood was pretty threatening by the end.
That's when I decided that the southern hospitality notion is all BULL****.
The only other away game I enjoyed more (from that era) was the Penn State beat down

First, RIP Chris Campbell.

Second, holy crap did Dorsey have time to throw. Man, I miss seeing what real play-action passes and a running game look like.

Oh, and that front four...sweet Odin's Raven!

Do you remember that long run on the opening drive that they had? I think that's the loudest moment in a road game that I have ever been a part of.! Crowd was very quiet soon after that

I believe it was Kelly Jennings who ran down Houston from all the way across the field. So much hustle and skill on those D's

Iirc both he and Taylor caught him. I recall listening to the UT post game and they were interviewed the RB on that long run. He said he never in his life got run down like that. He said that play made him realize how much on another level Miami speed was.

After watching this I"ve become a bit misty longing for the days of old...One thing about this team is it was a real team..Future All Pros playing special teams, Dorsey blocking for Johnson, the fullback drag working for 3 scores and the Huskies had no answer..This team knew they were going to beat you, the other team knew we were going to beat them, and the Canes knew that the other team knew that we were going to beat them..All Americans and NFL All Pros at every position. Will never happen again..
