Canes fan since the mid '80's when I moved to Opalocka and ended up graduating c/o '94. Raised 3 sons to be lifelong Canes, and had season tickets for 20 years. Best memories of my life. Last son went off to college last year, so I took my friend's son to a couple of games, but he's off to college this summer, and worked Saturdays last season, so I sat there by myself for several games. Totally weird and different experience. I've been on the lower upper deck, visitor's side, 20 yard line for years, but there's always different people around me, so I've got no connections there. My wife hates going to the games, but will watch on the sofa with me. She convinced me not to renew my tickets this season, but I can't stand the idea, especially since I'm pretty excited about this season.

Any suggestions?

Renew

And all the games you have been to. Haven't met other fans?

listen to the wife, dont renew. in exchange, take her on a couple nice date nights, and convince her to go to ONE game with you.

I hate to say it, but this is probably the best advice. I wish my wife would sit on the couch and watch with me then she wouldn't be asking me things while I'm trying to watch the game. However, she does love the stadium experience for some reason.

You said you are an alum, right?

UM has an alumnus discount on Sections 117 and 119. Move your tickets into that section. Hopefully, the cost to YOU is the same, but the tickets are better.

Then, sell any tix you don't use. Those sections are on the "away" side, so even if UM fans are not super-motivated to attend, at least some away fans should be interested in buying those tix.

You should be able to break even, or at least cut your losses.

I went through something similar after my last kid was born. I got the whole "you're gone all day drinking beer and you come home late and you're useless" talk from Mrs. Cincinnati. So I did not renew and have not for the last 15 years - coincidentally I moved away from SoFla several years ago so it's not even an option now. What I did do though, was pick a game or two a year to go to, regardless of location. This year I'm going to Berkeley with my sons.

Say what you want about "fandom," but a peaceful home with a (semi) happy wife, a large TV and a clean bathroom is not a bad way to watch the games. Also, divorces are pretty expensive.

You left out the ability to pause and rewind.

She “likes” the stadium experience because there are other women there. She doesn’t want you there solo my friend…there aren’t any other women on the couch with ya

I'm not a millennial. I literally just went wireless on my tv and hate the change. I hate having to use an app to stream to my tv. I'm old fashioned and (sometimes) proud of it. I cut my lawn with an old fashioned, walk behind rotary mower (that's actually true). I love telling kids to get off my lawn!

After the last 2 decades of dashed hopes, it's a wonder that she watches with you from the couch

Nor am I. I just got rid of Directv after last season. I'm still iffy on Fubo for games. Pause and rewind are necessities. You never know when hunger or thirst will strike, let alone the call of a full bladder.

You can always buy single game tickets.
