Agreed. I was impressed by our pass rush and overall level of disruption though.
Now that was legit, they dominated a talented oline filled with high level recruits so that’s credible from the defense on this game. A&M passing offense and qb situation is not good so we have to wait and see a true test from like unc like some are saying

Not a ton we didn’t already know here, but Jesus Christ that was a terrible football game.

Things that stand out:

1. Obviously the red zone determined the entire game. 9 red zone plays….ZERO SUCCESS RATE

2. We got beat by a team who didn’t even ATTEMPT a pass 20+ yards downfield

3. We completed 2 passes against man coverage all night

4. They had 0 sacks and TVD was only pressured on 20.5% of his attempts, yet we still only completed 56.5% of our passes (adjusted) for only 5.3 yards per attempt. Absolutely awful.

5. Only 10.3% explosive play rate

6. This is good….0 three and outs. And averaging 8.3 plays per drive is very good, although if you’re going to be methodical, you have to finish drives.

7. Yards before contact per rush....3.0!! That is excellent. REALLY encouraging for the OL going forward. And we only had 16.7% of our runs stuffed, another great number.

8. Defense was generally very good. But A&M went completely in a shell offensively. Honestly, they didn't even try most of the night. It was evident that the gameplan was to make absolutely no mistakes and make Miami's offense beat them. They ran the ball 75% of the time on first and 10. And we think Gattis is conservative. That's an abortion. Jimbo is the worst. And they faced 3rd and 7+ on 7 different plays. They averaged 1.1 yards per play on those and converted one. To lose to a team this inept and conservative on offense in 2022 really makes me ill.

Was Gattis big idea to beat man drags / mesh concepts ? All jokes aside man coverage is almost a layup in todays football for Oc’s. With all the motion , stacking and designed rubs. Two completions is breath taking.

Glad somebody posted the A&M passing stats, so people could see it for themselves. Which brings me to the point I’ve made a few times already. Yes the defense is solid, but do not get fooled by this performance. The secondary did not get that much better overnight. It’s just that much easier when you never have to turn and run. UNC will test them again in a couple of weeks.
The defensive line also played well and did their jobs, but note that TAMU had a similar run game performance against....Sam Houston. We should just be cautious about making too big of a conclusion there.

UNC definitely will…
Need to have more long drives and keep them off the field. We cannot get into a shoot out there.
Yeah coming into the year I looked at the A&M game and the UNC game to where I thought we would really see what kind of team and coaches we had

Just because it was going to be very different games and being adaptable was supposed to be the good thing about some of these coaches

Ok, so there’s an agenda here. We know this. And the dude is probably about 3 fries short of a happy meal. But he knows the game. Again, there’s a lot of bias here. But try to sift through the sarcasm and bias and just watch his breakdowns of the plays. This is pretty damning. Only thing I will say aside from what he did is he places all the blame on scheme, which deserves a ton. But he just glosses over the fact that kids aren’t open, because he attributes it solely to scheme. Although, Gattis is the WR coach as well. But the plan was awful, the execution was awful, and A&M just bodied our kids physically while playing stronger. Enjoy….

Agree 100%

A lot of positives, just don’t go believing we are a top 5 defense.

The UNC game will tell us a lot about this season/ program. There defense is bad, and a dynamic offense that we have struggled with in the last. Mario was good coming off a bye at Oregon. Hopefully the fans come out and make noise cause we will need it. This game will decide the coastal.

If it's at noon or 3:30, there will be 27K people there. Only hope is a night game, but that's probably not gonna happen.

Oh yeah, this guy hates Gattis (as a coach). He mentioned him in a video a few weeks ago.

To be fair, they were also without Bryce Foster who is their best OL and Center.

He hates everything Michigan, as an Ohio State dude. But he knows ball. And to be honest, more than anything, I just watched it for that coaches film. I'd pay top dollar for the All-22 for our games.

Long, clock draining drives are great if they end in points but if you’re purposely shortening the game, you better have a near perfect efficiency. Being methodical takes possessions away from your opponent but it also limits your possessions. One or two mistakes in the red zone can literally lose you a game. The problem with playing this style is that it leaves no margin for error. Everyone needs to execute perfectly every single play. It’s even worse when you’re going five yards at a time because you’re counting on your entire team to execute perfectly for 10+ plays just to get a single touchdown. It was such a helpless feeling watching us go in slow motion down 8 with six minutes left in the game. You’re literally giving yourself one and only one chance to get that touchdown and conversion. There’s no reason to drain the clock in a game you’re losing. You want to pound the ball and be methodical up 10 in the fourth? Go for it but if you’re losing, you need to give yourself as many chances to score as possible. Play to win, not to make it look close.
