Not a ton we didn’t already know here, but Jesus Christ that was a terrible football game.

Things that stand out:

1. Obviously the red zone determined the entire game. 9 red zone plays….ZERO SUCCESS RATE

2. We got beat by a team who didn’t even ATTEMPT a pass 20+ yards downfield

3. We completed 2 passes against man coverage all night

4. They had 0 sacks and TVD was only pressured on 20.5% of his attempts, yet we still only completed 56.5% of our passes (adjusted) for only 5.3 yards per attempt. Absolutely awful.

5. Only 10.3% explosive play rate

6. This is good….0 three and outs. And averaging 8.3 plays per drive is very good, although if you’re going to be methodical, you have to finish drives.

7. Yards before contact per rush....3.0!! That is excellent. REALLY encouraging for the OL going forward. And we only had 16.7% of our runs stuffed, another great number.

8. Defense was generally very good. But A&M went completely in a shell offensively. Honestly, they didn't even try most of the night. It was evident that the gameplan was to make absolutely no mistakes and make Miami's offense beat them. They ran the ball 75% of the time on first and 10. And we think Gattis is conservative. That's an abortion. Jimbo is the worst. And they faced 3rd and 7+ on 7 different plays. They averaged 1.1 yards per play on those and converted one. To lose to a team this inept and conservative on offense in 2022 really makes me ill.

Mario’s method worked extremely well and yet utterly failed to deliver a win.

Our passing attack was so poor that we had a good running game, a great game defensively, and we still lost the game. Yes, special teams played a big role in the outcome, but if our running game got an A, the passing game gets a D+ at best, and that is only because the OL did so well in protection.

Holy ****. We basically failed at the skeleton drill.

That's a walk down the road of painful truth. We are what we are , not really but who am I to say. You just put enough tape out for mediocre and non producing offense that I don't feel good about elite 5 star WRS coming to Miami no matter the NIL. that's what has me disgusted. What's your counter argument when Saban plays the tape, or any other number of coaches.

Yes. If you'd have told me before the game we'd average 4.9 yards a rush, 3.0 yards before contact, and not give up a single sack, I'd have easily bet you $5k that we score more than 9 points. It's almost impossible. 27 first downs, those rushing numbers....and he even mixed it up somewhat well, only a 45.7% run rate on 1st down, which is lower than average...and we still did absolutely **** inside the 20. I had to go back and look and just double check the 0 for 9:

1. 1st and 10 from A&M 16 -- Parrish runs to the right for 1 yard.
2. 2nd and 14 from A&M 20 (After a false start, which cannot happen in the redzone) -- Incomplete pass
3. 3rd and 15 from A&M 20 -- Knighton run to the right for 10, sets up a FG
4a. 1st and 10 from A&M 12 -- Ineligible man downfield, again, immediate bullet meet foot situation in the redzone
4b. 1st and 15 from A&M 17 -- Incomplete pass
5. 2nd and 15 from A&M 17 -- Knighton run for -1 yards
6. 3rd and 16 from A&M 18 -- Incomplete pass, sets up a blocked FG
7. 1st and goal from A&M 10 -- Knighton run for 2
8. 2nd and goal from A&M 8 -- Designed QB run for 2
9. 3rd and goal from A&M 6 -- Knighton run for 2, sets up a horribly decided FG to cut the lead to 17-6
10. 2nd and 7 from A&M 19 -- Pass to Mallory for 1 yard
11. 3rd and 6 from A&M 18 -- Pass to Brashard Smith for 2 yards, sets up FG

I think his computer looks for plays INSIDE the 20, so the 2nd and 3rd plays on this list may not have been caught as redzone plays. But they were both unsuccessful plays, so really I think we ran 11 plays at the 20 or inside, and ZERO were successful.

This is how you lose.

And it’s not like the plays weren’t there to be made in the passing game , it was just off
Completely agree. Everyone's acting like there's a five-alarm fire going off right now. TVD and our WRs missed on multiple game-changing plays. We'll be better, especially as we stack talent (long-term) and figure out our best personnel groupings. Also, we'll be better on account that we will execute better as the season unfolds and these guys get more reps.

Glad somebody posted the A&M passing stats, so people could see it for themselves. Which brings me to the point I’ve made a few times already. Yes the defense is solid, but do not get fooled by this performance. The secondary did not get that much better overnight. It’s just that much easier when you never have to turn and run. UNC will test them again in a couple of weeks.

And I'll say this now, if Michigan keeps their current offensive trajectory, Miami didn't steal a **** thing. I didn't like this part when he left Michigan, not many I'm house said a **** thing and many reported better off. Not a good start.

UNC definitely will…
Need to have more long drives and keep them off the field. We cannot get into a shoot out there.

Agreed. I was impressed by our pass rush and overall level of disruption though.

#6 was breath of fresh air.

How many 3-outs have Hurricanes had against FIU caliber opponents...
