Adidas Dumping The Tread On The Jerseys Next Year?

Such an underrated post. **** Nike!

No reason to knock Nike. That was a fruitful partnership for three decades and Miami was their first school back in the late 1980s. Mutually beneficial relationship for a very long time. Nike got too big, too busy and brought on too many schools, forcing a more universal approach to how they took care of everyone.

adidas came along and saw Miami as a great global option, making UM a top priority and the cornerstone of their college apparel market—to to national appeal. They got some things wrong out the gate (re: font for jersey names on back) but were quick to get things fixed and have been proactive since.

Great run with Nike and thankful for the fat adidas check as it helped buy out Golden and bring on Richt—no to mention other facilities-related upgrades. All worked out all around.

I'm not a fan of any particular company and I get why the univ. made the move. I also find it funny that Adidas started off giving Miami the same uniforms they do for virtually every other team they outfit, then Richt comes around and everything changes. Our first sets we really bad and they seem to have gotten very proactive. My guess is they're pretty happy with the relationship right about now.

Nike treated us as their guinea pig for too many years with their ridiculous uniforms 2004 and on. They gave our players very little equipment and options to wear. Altered Miami’s brand identity with wacky Sebastian logos and uniform combos/helmets. At one point, they wanted to remove the U logo for good but Miami denied their proposal. Don’t defend Nike. They treated us like ****.

I'm not a very big fan of the "tread" they have on their jerseys. But if thats the worst thing about them or if the most we can complain about it not wearing black cleats and socks, that means we have ******* awesome uniforms.

Like seriously, all the Uni's we've worn have been better than anything we've gotten from Nike the past decade, even the first Adidas ones. The current ones, and all the alternates we have worn have been nothing short of great.

Nike was not our sponsor during that time - most of it but we also had Russell.

the tread doesnt bother me. kinda like it actually, but putting the U on the collar would be great.

I'm neutral on this. I thought the "tread" actually helped with moisture wicking. If so, I hope they don't drop it simply because some people don't like the way it looks. A uniform needs to perform first, look good second.

You're correct. The "tire tread" isn't some aesthetic print that's there for looks. It's due to the "Tech Fit" materials that Adidas uses to make the jerseys as tight fitting and breathable as possible. Now, if they have some new "tech fit" styles for next year that don't have the "tire tread" look, all the better.

WHERE ARE THEY?

We got to shuffle some logos around and figure out our captain C placement. That **** is weird in the armpit.

True. Not sure about the rules but they should just give the captains a different color Adidas logo or a special helmet sticker because there's no room for the "C".
