Addressing rumors

The hype was in spring when he was healthy. In fall camp, the hype died down (and shifted to players like Toney) because he was not in form.
@DMoney I promise I'm not trolling. I don't think I worded my question well before, but this is an honest question:

Lyle's health last year once he returned seem to fall into 3 camps

1) He was healthy - he just wasn't playing well (for whatever reason)
2) He was healthy - but he lost confidence from being hurt/missing time earlier in the year and that's why he didn't play well
3) He was never 100% healthy - and that's why he didn't play well

It seemed like during last season you were in camp #2, but are now more in #3? Am I understanding that right?

I think people don't realize by taking those reps away it makes it that much more of a possibility we lose any of them to the portal. I don't think we need any portal players at wide receiver if we take the chance of developing them. Worst case if we do that's when we address the possibility of portal players for that position. But I believe heavily in the recruits were bringing in from high school especially a wide receiver and DB
are you assuming we lose any of the 4 freshman receivers?

or better stated, should (or is) the plan to always over sign a position to account for predictable attrition? the way i envision this is, if you want to have 2 starters from a position in a certain class, you sign 3 or 4 guys you think could be starters, accepting some will fall off, transfer, disappoint.

sort of the way you’d think of backlog in business

From the outside, I would say it's a combination of 2 and 3. We aren't in these kids bodies so it's very difficult to speculate.

at least Jacobs can play the "Daryl Jones" role.. for those who recall our 2000 roster that saw Reggie and Moss carry the load at that position.

I think this is an interesting quote.

The follow-ups to Mario I'd ask would be - "Did you & the staff realize how banged up Lyle was?"

If you didn't
- why not? Did you not see a difference in how he was practicing & playing?
If you did - why'd you continue to give him crunch time carries in close games and eventually make him the starter again?

Lyle is Mario's guy. Mario definitely goes to bat for him

100% agree. Only Lyle knows for sure how much he was hurt last season.

The rest of are just reading tea leaves and speculating.

How good you think you Lyle was to begin with is probably the main thing that influences how much you think injuries affected his play in 2025

The BShaw/DMoney rivalry has overtaken Miami/FSU at this point
My arguments with D$ are always around 2 things - consistency & addressing (or at least acknowledging) the obvious

Fletcher's talent is backed up by how he played (6.8 ypc) against good competition - 10+ win playoff teams, right?

If we drop that measuring stick to 4.0 ypc vs 5+ win teams - that should be a very low hurdle, right?

So why does Lyle's 2024 (when he was great) look exactly the same as 2025 (when he was bad)?

I respect a "yes that looks bad, but I believe in Lyle because (insert reasons)" instead of "nothing to see here...."

Said way more eloquently than I ever could! Agreed!

I did enjoy some of your competitors, "_____ has an extremity issue, likely done for the year, but could be back next week, too. Injuries are fluid."
