Walton has been given the key$$$$ at 21 years old. The guy is making a LIVING (well, was).

Smoking on the reg can really affect your judgement of the future. Especially a person making in excess of 500k+ per year. At that point, you've made it.

Burning took the fire out of me. I craved it every day and it really affected how passionate I was. It was my crave. It was my fix. Everyone has one, and mine was weed. As harmless as it may be on a daily basis, IT WILL AFFECT YOU. Imagine handling that burden at 21 years old with minimal family connections/leadership. Even though Walton has been arrested 3 times in 3 months, you know the kid is at peace with HOW FAR HE HAS COME. Not many kids make it that far, that early. And weed will absolutely make you feel..... content.

I mean, the guy slapped a phone out of a drivers hand? What kind of NFL player does that? A desperate, misguided, judgement impaired human-being.

I feel for the guy. Call him stupid, but the guy is searching for some type of peace. And obviously, weed is not the cure for him (even it he may think so).

I pray for Mark, that he's able to fulfill his dream and his potential. 2 years ago, (maybe) before the weed, you know the guy dreamed and played like a man on a mission. He ran like a "GROWN *** MAN" for a reason. His peers coined that nickname for him. He was fighting for his family. The guy wanted more..

Here's to MW. I pray the man can see the light, maintains sobriety, and fulfills the internal wishes he has for his children -- being a great leader/father etc. etc.

Prayers to you MW. The guy sacrificed his brain and well-being for us fans. Let us rally around those who give us existence as fans.

Edit: Weed doesn’t make you aggressive, I still will advocate for it over any other drug. But as some other posters have said, it’s probably other core issues that need to be dealt with.

Best quote: @kryptonite - “Again, I don't know the kid's story but I can easily believe that if he smokes a lot he may feel pretty fcked when he's sober.”

Could we stop with the Walton threads? This is the third one in the last two days. He ****ed up multiple times, he has issues he needs help with, we wish him the best. His career in the NFL is probably done. Sucks but it is what it is. Case closed.

Sure.

Losing his parents and all the head trauma are much more likely for why he is having these outbursts than him smoking weed. Tons of people smoke weed everyday and don't get the side effects you mentioned. Perhaps he does get those side effects, but people going off the deep end after many hits to the head/losing a parent much more often than people that smoke weed everyday.

My thoughts on head injuries in football.

There is contact a lot of contact, fierce contact over many areas of the body.

Everyone one knows this clearly, if you play there’s a good chance you’ll get hurt.

Everyone should sign a NONE POOR ME VICTIM clause if you don’t there go play darts or something else.

People get hurt then sue otheyfor something they know is dangerous yet still do it.

Soon the NFL will be like everyone wearing those Sumo huge outfits and run around bumping into others till they fall.

So bc weed took the fire out of u and u craved it everyday that has to be the reason for Mark's woes as of late?

Joe Rogan has the best podcast in America right now, he smokes weed. Dave Chappelle is the greatest comedian of this generation, he smokes weed. Seth Rogen, Willie Nelson, Lady Gaga, almost every rapper, they all smoke weed and they're all millionaires.

My point is that it's irresponsible for anyone except for those closest to Mark to act like they have full knowledge of his situation. Using weed as a scapegoat is the easy thing to do. If I didn't know any better i would have thought this was coming from the man Stephen A himself.

Smokin weed all day prolly isn’t MWs disease, just the symptom.

Mark has always been a good dude. His moms made sure of that! Weed is just the red herring. I think anybody who lost their parents, at a young age, can empathize with him. He’s grown and he has to make his own decisions, but I just hope he wakes up before it’s too late. He can’t get these years back and the streets is littered with unrealized potential

It sounds like I’m a hard *** but I’m a softy at heart I’ve given more out then I’ve ever received, when approached from someone to give back to me I always say “ do the same I did for you to someone you don’t know “.

People cram me all the time hey it’s ok for you GOCANES to except something nice .

Like Birthdays I tell family give it to my granddaughter that makes me happy very much.

MW surely missed many opportunities he needed to get right now it’s time to pay for all those free lunches.

I want the best for MW but sometimes TOUGH LOVE is the only way.

Cannot deny that. Great points.

But, myself, as a kid who first started smoking weed at 22, and who got a decent salary out of college, I feel like I’m seeing him go through the same struggles. I could be WAY OFF, but got **** it’s eerily similar.

One thing is for sure, better that Mark Walton was shook, or kicked in the ***, at 22 years old instead of barely skipping his way through his rookie contract. Like you said @GOCANES05 , tough love.

I completly agree with your post, but to add onto it. TONS of people working on wall street smoke weed on a daily basis as well.

Agree! You ain’t doing violent **** after taking some tokes, now. I miscommunicated that.

But, as I know it, i was a cranky ***** who was overly aggressive when I wasn’t smoking weed on my couch/computer. I could go from 0 to 100 real quick. Fight or flight, and it was fight every time.

Not gonna pretend to know what Walton’s demons are, but he clearly has some. Seems like a good dude at heart who has some significant untreated mental/emotional issues that are spiraling out of control.

He was an orphan at 17 or 18, and who knows what he had to do mentally to get past losing his mom so young and still stay focused on school and football and everything else?

The epically tough men of CIS can regale us with their own personal stories about how they had to walk 20 miles barefoot through the snow to get to school and how great they turned out. But everyone is different. Sometimes, life can slap people so hard that they’re not equipped to deal with it, and their behaviors start becoming more and more suspect.

I truly hope that Walton has someone he can trust and feel comfortable enough to open up to and work on a plan to get his life in order because the world can forget about you quickly when mess up a few times. It’s tough for a kid like that who, at such a young age, had to be “the man” and “be strong” and all those other buzzwords that make men choke to death on their own issues.

I wish I could help counsel a young guy like this because he’s still got his whole life in front of him if he can pull himself out of this spiral.
