"AD has no money"

they don't care. 8 or 9 wins is just fine
They don't care, yet they're raising hundreds of millions of dollars for the athletics department? Makes perfect sense in CIS land.

They care. And if we keep the pressure on they will fire Folden.

To me proof is in the pudding. The record the last ten yrs tell me they do not care.
You mean the record of firing Coker, Shannon, and Perry Clark all with big buyouts to pay off? Seems like they cared enough to fire all those guys and eat big buyouts.

Problem has been picking the right HC not a lack of caring. All the big programs have had the same problem for long stretches in the past.

Now, if they retain Folden after 4 years of his bumbling faqqotry, not only have they stopped caring, but they're also racist filth.

It'd be a lot easier to raise money for the AD if they hired Mr. Butch. Money would come flooding in.

Miami will not hire someone who has any wiff of NCAA sanctions attached to them, for at least another decade - no matter how good a coach he is. Can't tell if you're actually serious with this Butch stuff.

Blake, hire Butch and you have the premier program in the country and people will hold you in the same regard they hold Sam Jankovich.

There's a lot more validity to the argument about usage than many of you want to admit.
Ask FAU how they're doing putting butts in seats for non-football events.
I want a stadium as much as the next person, but do some simple math and see how much Miami could expect to just gross on seven games a year, if you think that makes economical sense...

The real problem is that the people making decisions are not competent. They don't understand the job and how to run the athletic program. When you make stupid decisions; you end of costing the program more money.

Example 1: Coker extension in September 2005. Not sure why he got another extension. He just came off a 9-3 season. The program seemed to be on a downward trend.

Example 2: RS extension. Not sure why he deserved an extension, he had a year on his contract. I understand coaches don't like to work under 1 year deals (1 year left) but so what? He did nothing to warrant an extension. We extend the man in May and fire him in November. Once he had the extension, did he work harder (man didn't show up for his camps or recruit)? No! Did the product improve? No!

Whatever the buyout was on Coker and RS it could have been spent on the actual coaches.

Example 3: RS hiring. It is very rare to promote a coordinator from a failing regime (Coker). It is even rarer to hire someone who has never been a coach before from a failed regime. The hiring didn't make sense. Even if it was to save money it ended up costing a lot more.

Absolute, sheer stupidity to even try to bring "racism" into any of this.

It seems to me that these contract extensions are the norm for college football coaches whether they deserve it or not. It sort of cements them at a location and helps with recruiting. If we get more recruits for a few million dollars in a contract extension, is it worth it?

Yeah, Blake James doesn't want Miami to win championships.

Just stupid.

Simply wanting Miami to win national championships without taking any serious steps to make that happen might as well be the same thing as not wanting to win.

"Hey canecountry, I noticed your house was on fire. I really wanted to put it out though so it's all good my man!"
"Oh man, thanks Blake what did you do?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like did you call the fire department? Turn on a neighbors hose? Throw buckets of water at it? Rush inside of to smother the burning couch with a wet blanket?"
"Nah man, I didn't do anything like that. But I really wanted to put it out."
"But you didn't actually do anything to put it out?"
"Right."
"And my house?"
"Oh it's a total loss. Smoldering ruble right now."
"You're a real piece of **** Blake."
"#RENEWED!"

Another way to say this: hope is not a plan.

Why does anyone think Miami will ever build a stadium? Those things cost hundreds of millions of dollars....and for what? 7 homes games, 4-5 of which bring in 25k fans? The rest of the time it sits empty? How does that make any sense economically for a small private university?

Do you really think the stadium would only be used for football games? Any type of sporting arena be it a football stadium, baseball stadium, hockey arena, basketball arena, NASCAR racing track, etc. are used throughout the year for concerts and many many other types of events.

First, where are you going to put it? If on campus then yes, it only gets about 7 games per year and then nothing else. That's how it was at Penn State. The concerts and other venues were held in the basketball stadium since most events can't fill a big football stadium and weather plays a factor. There might be other events possible like soccer and such, but those events are not guaranteed when you build a stadium(and can easily be played at any other So Florida venue) and a lot of administrators have trouble seeing the benefit of a long-term plan that will most likely only make money once they are gone.....and that's only IF it does make money. Attendance is hurting for a lot of sports right now, ESPECIALLY in South Florida (look at the Panthers 7,000 tickets sold at their hockey game this week with even LESS people in attendance, look at the Marlins pathetic attendance from Day 1 and even the Dolphins recently). It's scary for these administrators to justify anything at the moment with the price tag that would be required. Look at these pro stadiums like Sun Life that are falling apart, how much money is needed for upkeep of a respectable stadium, let alone "keeping up with the Jones') at tese big state universities out there. What do you do in 20 years when the stadium is outdated again or in need repair? Who funds that? Being a long-time Canes fan, i miss the Orange Bowl and the home field advantage we had as much as the rest, but i just don't see it happening ANYTIME soon, if ever.

I really hope you're not in charge of any money or investments any way shape or form.

Does your boyfriend run the house budge and give you an allowance?

I do quite well with my money thank you. It's funny that people take personal shots without even knowing someone just to be internet tough guys and asses. Why don't you just stick to the topic at hand douche.

How much of the money is going towards paying for scholarships of athletes?

But I thought the school didn't care enough to put together a fundraising campaign for athletics?

how about putting money into a new stadium and better coaching staff instead of another science building?

How laughably ignorant. Completely different pots of money...plus, the university of Miami is, first and foremost, a UNIVERSITY.

Yet the university (Academic side) has no issue using the U symbol that was put on the scene by the football team.

If they had a clue on how to tie the 2 together, they both should be successful. You disagree with that?

poindexter if to bussy playing chest with the guys to answer your question

Of course they could. But to them the ideal coach is one who has elite APR results. That's why Golden was the top choice. They ain't trying to win; it's an experiment to be bragged about at Donna's fish-eater dinner parties.
