Top Tier Remaining ACC Schedule

Pitt: @ SMU, UVA, Clemson, @ Louisville, @ BC
Va Tech: @ Syracuse, Clemson, @ Duke, UVA

Week 10 Schedule:
Duke @ Miami
Va Tech @ Syracuse
Louisville @ Clemson
Pitt @ SMU

This is actually a pretty sneaky week in terms of its impact to Miami.

-It's SMU's hardest remaining game by a long shot. It also could give them a loss against a highly ranked conference opponent with a very good conference record, which could impact tie breakers. Their other conference opponents do not have good conference records so far.

-A Clemson loss to Louisville would be very important for tie breakers, as it's a common opponent that we beat. If I'm reading the ACC tiebreaker rule correctly, a Clemson loss to Louisville or Va Tech and a Miami win over Wake would essentially give us the tiebreaker over Clemson.

-Va Tech's continued success is very beneficial to Miami. They received votes in the Coaches Poll this week. They have the chance to finish the season ranked in a decent spot if they win out, which is possible if they make it through Clemson, and would greatly help Miami.

If all goes Miami's way this weekend we control our own destiny. I think it also gives us a head up in tie breakers against both SMU and Clemson, should we lose a game against anyone other than Wake. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but we could exit this week knowing there's a good chance we just need to beat Wake and then have a 1-loss buffer to play with.

So which team do we really prefer in the ACCCG?

My guess is SMU. They are 11th in the ACC in passing defense and 12th in passing offense. Clemson is pretty balanced and have the experience to go with it. Pitt would be a match up problem for our secondary.

That being said, beating a ranked Clemson team would be much better for Miami.

Here's a big factor in the SMU vs Pitt game:

Pitt's starting QB - Eli Holstein- was injured at the end of the Syracuse game. He is listed as" unknown" right now. That will impact greatly Pitt's ability to hang with SMU offensively....

I think SMU is an "easier" game than Clemson.... not that SMU is bad, but Clemson has a lot more talent imo.... but like others have said Clemson would be a sweeter "W"

Coastal is still in play.

But on the real smu is a better matchup for us than Clemson. Clemson has a pass rush and good athletes at many places. Plus our receivers are good but I’d prefer playing a mustang secondary than Clemson.

Smu has ways street if Holstein is out my god

Eh, I'm not sure that matters. We're looking at the 3-seed if we win the conference.
