Now I know it’s preseason (and the coaches poll at that) but I found it interesting that the ACC leads all of college football with 5 top 20 teams (4,13,16,17,19) especially considering how lowly the conference is viewed by the media at times.

The SEC leads all conferences with 6 teams (1,3,7,21,23,24) but only have 3 top 20 teams to show for it whcih is surprising considering they are always touted as the top/toughest conference. I’m fact the Big ten also has more top 20 teams with 4 (2,6,14,20) the big 12 matches that with 4 as well (9,10,11,18).

Not that means much at this point (will know better when the AP comes out on the 15th) but I just found it interesting how the conference everyone views as the weakest is starting out as ranked the “strongest” based on this metric. UNC could also make a case for the top 25 if they can put a few moving parts together as well as UVA if Tony Elliott can get the ball rolling with them returning a top QB in Armstrong.

Again, this is the preseason and all the teams listed above in the ACC ALL have a tough game within the first 4 weeks of the season so how good each team really is (and if they deserve their ranking) will be put to the test almost immediately.

I genuinely believe the ACC has the most depth when it comes to quality teams around the conference then it’s ever had.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see 5/6 teams FINISH in the top 25 as well as 3/4 in the top 15.

Last statement is kinda confusing. If you're saying this is the strongest the ACC has ever been then okay, maybe you have an argument.

If you're saying the ACC has the most depth out of any conference right now well.......

Five more seasons before our get out of jail free card arrives?

God help us
LOL No, I meant for the ACC's reputation to start to change as a football conference and ergo lead to a better TV payday.

However, I don't see that happening. Let's take the get out of jail free card if it comes.

I’m saying the ACC has more depth this year compared to what the ACC has had. Can’t remember the last time the ACC has had 4 legitimate teams that could appear in the top 15 (Clemson, Ncstate, Wake, Miami) and add another top 25 team in PITT + 2 more teams that have fairly good odds of appearing in the top 25 this year (UNC/UVA)

Compared to ACC’s of the past this might be the strongest one to date

Acc very solid this year. Some outstanding QB’s. Heck, I think Phil Jerkovec is a very nice prospect (PA bias) & BC ain’t even ranked.

Preseason rankings are stupid but cutting it off at 20 is pretty arbitrary.

If you cut it off at top 10 we’re behind all of the conferences you listed lol

There’s more solid teams in the ACC this year than most but there’s only one team that’s a legit playoff contender and it’s been a long time since anyone besides Clemson was.

ACC desperately needs a great season.
That’s why it’s actually better if fsu bears lsu
Esp if we can’t beat and am
That’s gonna be a huge black eye to the acc
And the gators pumping sec sec will be unbearable

Twenty teams not named Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Clemson were in the 2021 pre-season college football poll.
Of those 20 teams, 6 finished ranked in the final poll.

You may carry on with your pre-season poll discussion.

Thank you.

Pitt, Wake, and NC State are overhyped. We are TBD in the “overhyped” category. Clemson probably finishes 10-2. ACC gets shut out of the playoff again, and all of the “ACC has the best QB play” leads to nothing.
