2. Miami Hurricanes
Mark Richt won two conference titles at Georgia, and although that wasn't enough for Bulldogs fans, Miami faithful who are eager for a championship taste would be thrilled with an ACC title and playoff contention.
Coach, can you talk about the Richt hire?
"He's going to do a great job. To me, they're a sleeping giant. What Miami has done and how they've tried to run their offense is what Georgia has done. It's a great hire, and it's going to get them back in the mix." -- ACC defensive coach
Miami has earned a reputation as one of the more confounding programs in the FBS, playing like a title contender one week and falling flat the next. Last season? A 10-point win vs. Virginia Tech followed by a 58-point pummeling by Clemson. That has plagued Miami for a decade.
Coach, can you talk about the Canes' inconsistency?
"At times, they play with anyone and look like 'The U,' and other times, they've cashed in their chips and are ready to go home. You didn't know what Miami you'd get. That won't happen with Richt." -- ACC offensive coach
The Canes keep signing blue-chip defensive line recruits with impressive résumés, but those players are not producing once they arrive in Coral Gables. Only once since 2011 has the defense finished in the top 50 nationally in sacks.
Coach, can you talk about the group Craig Kuligowski inherits?
"They're talented, but when you identify them, I don't know how hard they play. I don't know if it was because of the situation with the coach, but you didn't get the traditional effort of a Miami team." -- ACC defensive coach
