Absolute laziest take- can't trust Cristobal in big games

Whenever I hear a "pundit" say they can't trust Mario in big games, that's the sign to tune them out. Mario actually is really good in big games. We're 4-0 vs ranked teams this year. I heard one reporter say, even if Miami beat Texas A&M he couldn't imagine Mario ever beating Ryan Day- which obviously means he hasn't spent much time analyzing the 2 teams.

Everyone knows, his problem is getting the team ready for lesser teams.

One can argue Jimmy Johnson could NOT win big games after 1986 season.

If these pundits are the same ones saying FSU is back after beating Bama, you know they're just parroting what they heard some other ignorant person say.

Every point people make in favor of TAMU is a lazy point
- Can't trust Cristobal (WTF has Elko proven)]
- Can't trust Beck (Reed is just as worse with TOs and by the way TAMU has only 3 INTs on the season)
- THE 12th MAN (**** outa here)
- SEC SEC SEC (You played the bottom half of the SEC)

Pretty much the same **** we were hearing leading up to the 2024 game in Gainesville. Hopefully we get the same result

It’s not even the big games or tight games, the games where we struggle the past few years has been games where we were overwhelming favorites.

Something clicked in that SMU game. Im a firm believer this is a team that is better than the team that even beat ND to start the year.

Miami’s playoffs started 4 games ago, and it’s been survive and advance since. You see Mario at the Pitt game? That MFer having fun, calling timeouts at the end of the half with a double digit leads to get the ball back. If that **** is PERMANENT, then we in for a day. Don’t take your foot off the gas

I think... (hope) he has learned from the two losses this season.

Having said that.. this SEC hyper homerism among cFB "experts" is driving me nuts..

Mario's problem isn't the big games. It's the other ones. I will say, the break does give me a little concern, as we have had problems coming out of bye weeks.
The problem was the bye week, game, bye week. One game in 27 days was brutal as the team was still figuring things out. I think we saw the best version the last few weeks of the season.

We were ready for ND. We'll be ready for T A&M.

The biggest knock the board had on Mario when he was hired was the he wins the big games but every year he is going to lose a game where we had no business losing. Its kinda played out that way every year. SMU this year, GT last year, GT the year before. We are not losing this game because of Mario.

Big games are usually tight games.
our big games this year were not tight.. a lot of our big games with Mario have not been.. UF last year also...

ND we were up by 14 points until Mario's coaching allowed it to get tight.. it wasn't a tight game until we changed our coaching/strategy... which is the concern...
FSU was a blowout until Mario's coaching allowed it to get tighter...
UF was dominated all game...

So, generally I agree with you. But at Miami, it seems like Mario has had the team ready to play our big games and we've done really well and dominated. It's been the non big games that have been tight where his gameday coaching has cost us.

"And he did it in Ohio Stadium, without two of his best defensive players -- injured defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and freshman linebacker Justin Flowe -- before a crowd of 100,482 mainly unforgiving Buckeyes fans. Cristobal said the magnitude of the win was hard to express in words, but "it's a testament to the process."

re: Cristobal in big games
Sept is Mario Szn. "Big games when the season is on the line" is probably the phrase they should've used. Utah 2x, Syracuse, SMU... but he does have Pitt, and the Rose Bowl

I think offensively the coaches realized that we cant just lineup and try to play bully ball all game. Since that game we have seen far more creativity out of the offense. More misdirection, more play actions, more outside runs.

Agreed, sometimes it takes getting backed into a corner to find out what you truly got.
