About time

IDIOTIC. This is what you do in spring/fall practices and workouts. NOT SIX GAMES IN!!!

When your tire goes flat during a trip, you change it. You fix the issue/problem. If the tire was bad before you jumped on the road, it is your fault for not checking it before you pulled off (<--I'm agreeing with you here). But, you can't slam the coaches now for recognizing something and putting an end to it. That's the right response, even if it is a day late...

This hard nose bull**** is exactly what you don't do halfway through the season. It's ****ing bull****. Habits are formed throughout the spring and fall, this punishment is arbitrary and being done more for how it portrays Golden as a coach than it is to "correct" behavior.

The Dolphins are performing a culture change during the season. I'm more intrigued as to what Golden was doing to correct the situation before today. The whole "it's on me" and "we're working our tails off to get it fixed". What exactly were you doing to address this? And why is this now being addressed five years later?

It's all reactionary. Typical of someone like Golden.

I agree. He should've addressed this long ago. He's allowed this bad habit to form. It's not going to be fixed overnight.

I agree this should have been in place since day one but better late then never. We ran two extra gasers on mondays for every penalty on top of the 3-4 we ran every day at then end of practice. You dont want to be one of those guys who causes the team to run some more. On a team that holds each other accountable, you are going to hear about it.

This is the wrong way to approach it. Having the person who receives the penalty do the up downs won't work. The kids will suffer through it, but if they really want to stop the penalties, then they should make the whole team do the up downs for every offensive lineman false start. And, the coaches should have the offensive lineman stand and watch his teammates do the up downs.

The coaches can say "you hurt the team when you false start or hold in the red zone. Rather than hurt them in a game, you are going to hurt them in practice." I guarantee you that no player wants to be the reason the team has to do up downs. That is a real motivator.

No offense but you guys crying in here about guys being tired because they are doing up downs as punishment need to be back and study your history. When Howard was here he would have the team out on the practice field on Sunday morning after a ****** Saturday performance making them pay for thier sins.

I think we won the championship that year against Nebraska.

Great......Our players will be so focused on not getting false starts that the other team will be running by our lineman before they even move. But at least we won't be getting penalties. Another brilliant move by Golden

Shouldn't Al Mark and Coley being doing something like that every time offense or defense fail on 3rd down? Or give up a lead, or fail to score the go ahead points at end of game? Or delay of game penalty or fail to be lined up on defense because play is not in?

You're mistaken if you think my complaint is in regards to the physical aspect of it. It's more fundamental than that. We're midway through the season and this is what Fat Albert must revert to in order to curb poor behavior. It's very very telling and tells me this season is all but lost. Sorry, it's just so ******* stupid that he's doing this, let alone announcing it to all of the SoFla media. Pathetic. The team deserves better.

I wonder how many up-downs golden had to do for going for it on 4th down against Cincinnati while being down 11 points late in the 4th quarter.

Brother...i feel you! This should have been instilled during spring camp. All i am saying is at least he is trying to do something different to correct it. Drives me crazy when Gall false starts and then waddles back to the huddle all "Ho Hum" like. I have seen many other great coaches pull a kid immediately out of the game for stupid mistakes in big situations and give them a good screaming at on the sideline. This coaching staff goes all well maybe we will convert this 2nd and 20 now.

I have been saying to myself all season that if i was coach these perpetual offenders that keep killing drives and costing us Red Zone TDs would be running till they puke in practice. Nice to see knucklehead wake the **** up and start punishing kids.

Also agree with a previous poster that its interesting that Folden aired this dirty laundry to the press. A good coach would keep it in house and not report that stuff. Howard and Jimmy never reported this kind of stuff although we know full well they had ways of dealing with a lack of discipline, each in their own effective way.

Just goes to show Fat Albert is feeling the heat and is getting desperate!!!!

I hate the staff more than anyone on this board, but are you kidding me? You're just complaining just to complain. Butch Davis did similar things during his tenure at Miami. There's plenty of things to bash the staff on without having to reach.

vt sucks and we had a hard time. we got stomped by Cincy and FSU let us back in the game. watch what happens with Clemson. u can have all the dog u want but u need the right staff.

It took 5 years to make players accountable for penalties??? And instead of holding the team accountable (you know, WEFENSE), you punish only the violator?? One of the best motivators in football is team pressure. You think Romberg would accept having to do 'up-downs' all night cause a young OL forgot the snap count? How about any of the Blades brothers having to do gassers cause the DL kept jumping offside? Maybe I'm nitpicking cause I cant stand AG, but for this to be happening now, this late into his time at UM, is BS!
