Vince is putting in 100’s of millions in this, of his own money.
Peanuts when you're trying to compete with a league that has 32 billionaires...well 31 since Green Bay's publicly owned.

What are you going to sue an organization that is bankrupt and out of business for? What are the grounds and what of the zero money are you hoping to get?
Also don't see how an owner or investor would or could sue a player who left? Maybe if they took money up front and didn't fulfill the contract?
That’s the key , not trying to compete with the nfl. You know your role. That’s why the Usfl was successful , they knew their role. They were playing during the Nfl off season.
They messed up bringing trump in, he had his mind made up to go after the Nfl. He had an agenda toward them since they wouldn’t let him purchase an nfl franchise.
When the brains behind the USFL died trump became the alpha . Talked all the other owners into moving the league to compete with the nfl, and we know how that ended. If they’d known their role they’d been fine , they were making money and had television.
Oh and “ 100’s of millions”is far from peanuts , especially when it’s your money. And not many investors helping you.

Reggie White, Hershel Walker, Dough Flutie, Maurice Carthon, Jim Kelly, Steve Young...the USFL was competing with the NFL.
If you're not gonna compete for the best of the best, what are you in it for?
We'll see about the XFL, but I seriously doubt they have a better talent pool to choose from than the AAF.

Watch the documentary , they flat out said they knew they couldn’t compete.
They took a few fish from the nfl but in no way were they in the same stratosphere financially.
A few of the big names that went to the Usfl didn’t want to play for the team that drafted them or didn’t think they’d get a shot at their position.
They threw money at Hershel because he was a Heisman winner , so they knew he’d bring attention. Jim kelly said he was never freezing his *** off in buffalo , wasn’t happening. So he went to Houston.
That’s the only reason they got him.
Doug Flutie was a midget , he had to play their to get a shot. There’s a reason majority of his career was in the cfl.
Steve young didn’t think he’d get a shot to even play qb in the nfl, that had a lot to do with his decision.
95% of the best players went to the nfl , there was exceptions but by the names I mentioned you see the reasons.
These guys either just used it as leverage or a place to show your skills to get the nfls attention. That’s why it’s akways good to have another show in town.
The USFL wanted their small piece and were doing quite nicely , until trump bought in. That’s when everything fell flat.
I hear ya', but regardless, most of those names ended up being HOFers, I seriously doubt you'll ever see a "2nd League" attract that type of talent again. I didn't recognize 99% of the names at the Apollos vs Legends game that I went to last weekend, wasn't impressed with the product on the field at all.

But they arent competing with the NFL tho
Exactly , welcome to the business world. My good friend owns a small business ( as do I) and had an account go bankrupt while owing him 10,000 dollars. They just closed shop and left lol.
This happens in the real world daily.
Gotta wonder if the XFL ever even happens at this point now too.
I made the joke about Manziel but his response to this was actually fairly mature and reasoned. Then again, he probably wasn't exactly depending on it for his primary source of income too.
Johnny gonna bring down the XFL, too?
What a fvckin ***. Stop it gator. Still carrying that L....Once a gator, always a gator. Steve is my favorite gator but he still slim.
AAF was built on a shoestring, and when there was no plan, the knot came loose and the shoe came off.
It was someones pet project, and it showed.
The pundits on TV said, "Well, we told you so, no one wants spring football."
Bull****. People want spring football, but what we don't want is glorified arena league.
Do it right and it will work.
