A step forward

CIS isn't grey...its half the folks in here seeing it their way and the other half seeing it the opposite way...is what it is.
My only real problem with this take is that it assumes "we won't see any defenses like x and y again this season".....that's a flawed take IMO.
Won't take a top 25 D to beat this team...or for us to lose.....just sayin..

In the last four games against non-Clemson opponents, Miami has scored:

31 points
47 points
52 points
31 points

Last year, Miami would've been 12-1 if they scored 31 points in every game. That's all you need to consistently beat ACC mediocrities with this defense. So far, we've gotten what we asked for.

Clemson showed us the next level. We've got a ways to go. But this was a good win for two reasons.

First, everyone expected a letdown noon stinker coming off a loss. The team came to compete, which is refreshing. Second, Pitt presents a tough style matchup: two NFL DEs, the #1 sack defense in the nation, and an aggressive scheme that takes away your run game and challenges your WRs. Every defense left on the schedule will be an easier touch.

There's a lot of work to do: the offense is dependent on explosive plays, our WRs scare nobody and our OL is still developing. King may need to come back after putting up bad tape against his two best opponents. But you don't go from Louisiana Tech to Clemson in one step. This is progress.
What we watched today was good enough to win football, but not good football.

Also we have gotten to watch 5 weeks of football when earlier this year we weren’t even sure there would be a season. 4-1. Lots of work to do but let’s roll Virginia next Saturday night and keep the train moving!

I'm happy they won...but it's opening weekend for pheasant hunting so I didn't watch the game at all.... otherwise I'd be a little ****ed.

Dude, we came out flat on offense in the first half against an inferior opponent, but I’ll take a W. Agree, lots of work to do... not impressed with Lashlee so far other then he is a notch above Enos, until he proves otherwise.

Thank you. We are not the 2001 canes, we are not Clemson. We are a program coming off a 6-7 season and losses to FIU and scoring 0 against Louisiana tech where the team quit on Manny and the program looked dead in the waters

We are winning games we should win..and if this continues it will help to build the program that looked dead not even a year ago. This is year 2 for Manny and a very weird year at that. Gotta have some perspective

We can’t get open and that’s a problem. Our LT is a turn still and that’s a problem but we find a way to put points on the board and at the end of the day that’s what matters. Still, this should be what the depth chart should be though.

QB- King
RB- Chaney/Knighton
WR- Smith
WR- Redding
SLOT- Pope
TE- Brev
LT- Zion
LG- Clark
C- Gaynor
RG- Scaife
RT- Jarrid

DE- Jaelen
DE- Roche
DT- Silvera/
DT- JHH
OLB- Brooks
MLB- Flagg
Striker- Gil
CB- Blades JR
CB- Te’Cory
SS- Hall
FS- Bolden

Cam is too slow and needs a secondary role. We needs to get open on the outside. Zion is our best lineman and that’s our best combination of DTs and LBs. We would play so much better if they played instead of some seniority BS.

Non-Clemson AKA only team we have played with a pulse.

Playing college football for another year and living the life of a campus king sounds better than starting work if that’s the case. I don’t think King plays much in the pros so have fun playing in college. Work life will be there when your done.
If TVD is who we hope he is, King possibly doesn't win the starting job next year anyway.

He's a very limited passer.

A Transfer needs to come. Hopefully it’s someone like Tommy Devito from Cuse or Bo Nix if he’s benched. They both would be a better fit than King.

I don’t think the issue here is that we can beat a bad ACC schedule. It’s getting worked by good teams as a consistent trend during Manny’s time as DC and HC.

The question is do we gamble that he will eventually be able to out coach teams instead of just out talenting the mediocre ACC?

To me that’s the key. If the coaches think TVD will be the better player then you ask King to move on. If they don’t think so then convince him into sticking around.

I was glad to see them play hard from the get to. In years past, we all know that after a big loss, this team tended to mope.

I wanted this team to play extremely ****ed off and have great urgency. Seemed like they were just there for most of the game.
