A Rotten Roster full of (Mostly Florida) Divas?

what I meant with the culture thing is that the top kids around here have been moving teams and schools every year since peewee i to play for winning teams or getting pimped out by handlers or parents but they are all of a sudden supposed to want to stay home and play for a team that they have seen win 10 games once in their lifetime…

State of Maimi nonsense needs to die as well. What worked in the 80s doesn’t work now. The only way to win now is to recruit nationally. It’s good to have a solid base from the home state but there’s a lot of kids on the same level out of state that would give Miami a chance compared to the local kids.
Im not saying only recruit locally, im saying the culture of Miami shouldn’t be in question lol most of it is just he say she say ****, if u want a pure football player u come here, everybody takes our talent and succeeds but with us they go there and regress its a culture problem that we have to fix and its gonna take time

Every player on this roster I heard was a DAWG at some point. This is just something fans like to talk about to give them some kind of hope. Couch was a dawg, Blades was a dawg, James W. was a DAWG. Taylor was a DAWG. Breshard, Romello, Kitchens, Avantae, and on and on and on. I'm sure the NEXT class, that's the one that's got the real DAWGs in it. Fact is, Mario didn't have his team prepared enough to play A&M and capitalize on their mistakes. Then, he let it carry over. He's also broken TVD by way of Gattis, Mario said as much. Now he has to see if he can unbreak "one of the best QBs in America" -his words.

Agreed. Most of the kids are coming from programs that either win or compete for state or “national” titles at that level so it’s not like they forgot whatever winning cultures those schools had or even the work they put in to get to Miami.

We always talk about SFLA divas and mostly refer to them as the kids that rebuked the local school. Reality is that the returns show more often than not the SFLA diva actually chooses to stay home. It sucks but it sure seems that way. All you hear about our local kids is how most of them never care about losing and want to get to the club ASAP

In the 80's and 90's Texas and Texas A&M were legitimate national football teams. They were tough, tough teams. Friday Night Lights comes out, and TXHSFB players start to become celebrities at a level beyond what they were. A decade later and continuing today, there's a deserved criticism that Texas players seem soft. They can't shake the curse. Highly recruited players don't pan out. All the money in the world can't turn the ADs around at those two schools to a significant, permanent degree.

I think the same thing happened after the Butch/Coker years. Word got out about how tough and talented So Fla football was. Handlers seemed to crank it up a notch. It wasn't a secret any more.

I'm not saying this is the problem, but the parallels are very very weird. All of a sudden UF, FSU, and Miami seem cursed.... through multiple coaching regimes. The Florida stars who seem to make it are the ones who go out of state to OSU, Bama, Georgia.

I ain't saying this is it, but.... it sure feels familiar. An invisible barrier that these programs just can't get past.

The invisible barrier is poor coaching choices. It aint even that hard to see.

FSU won a champ with Jimbo and UF with Urb.

Its no curse or nothing...these admins do a poor job in the hiring process NONE worse than um but fsu and uf have also gotten lazy in their hiring.

I mean UGA has won 1 chip in my life time and bama was sh*tty most of my life.

The winning culture they have is to out talent teams.

Hence the elites go to Bama, OSU, UGA where they can just show up and.......................out talent teams.

It starts at youth football level here.....there are full teams filled with kids from all over the county to even two counties driving their kids to play on an all start youth roster. Before wgrowing up it was pretty much a neighborhood thing for youth ball..that has changed. Which has now seeped into the high school ball in south florida since the optomist coaches are now coaching high school...there is NOOOO Parity in south florida ball...we know where the good youth football players are going and we know what schools are state bound every year.
Thats thw s.fla current culture...the lebron effect...team up to win....For us to get the true elites we have to WIN...if not we will be able to pick off some die hard um types like James Williams, etc.

regardless of where UM gets its players -- Mario has to find guys who actually really want to play the game of tackle football, and not just call themselves 'Miami Hurricanes' and benefit from the perks of it

I saw waaaay too many guys who really didn't feel like being out there last Saturday

Before I start, nothing I say should serve as an excuse or apology as to why we got absolutely whipped by a a G5 team yesterday; in fact, my title is journalism 101 - flashy, controversial title that hooks in the reader lol.

However, ignore the garbage coaching on both sides of the ball + the head man up top for a second. This is not the first time we’ve come out flat or allegedly unprepared. We saw it against Southern Miss already this season, we saw it countless times in 2021, and we’ve seen it god knows how many times the past 15-20 years. A lot of us realized that this wasn’t a quick fix; and while no one expected this garbage, the portal was supposed to be a band aid for a roster with a lot of holes.

Now with that being said, how many times have we heard about clique-y behavior on this roster in recent years? It was allegedly a huge Manny problem, and it was mentioned endlessly in a multitude of threads last night. You could see poor body languages on TV, guys bickering after the game (from people at the stadium), pointing of the fingers in interviews and postgame comments, etc. Motivation from a HC can only go so far…so is it possible these front-runners don’t give af?

I personally am starting to think this roster is rotten. It’s full of guys that think playing for the U is cool and it’s a clout thing that on paper they care for, but they don’t put in the work to be great. Now that Mario is demanding in practice and the expectations are so much higher, a large portion of them crumble up under pressure and lay down to die… ready to fire out excuses about being unprepared, or crowd size, etc. It’s soft really.

80% of these kids don’t have that dog in them as much as they talk about it or like to think they do. I do believe Mario is recruiting the right guys and it’ll slowly show, but when the insiders said there will be a major roster turnover after 2022…god****, I can count 20+ kids I hope seek playing opportunity elsewhere.

We need dogs that want to play for the U. I don’t care where they come from. Darrel Jackson was one guy in particular I saw jumping up and down firing dudes up after Garcia’s first TD drive.

People calling for Mario’s head after 4 games have 0 football IQ, it’s the same porsters that want attention. He has a LENGTHY uphill battle with both the players and the fanbase after yesterday, and will have to change his offensive philosophy to make this work…but I do believe his culture and accountability is a good thing for this program.

We need a plethora of rotten garbage to leave this program, and it’s not hard to see after last night.
Imagine dealing with a team of misfit children how in the world do people think it can be fixed in a couple months.

Awesome post , I concur the football IQ here is the worst I ever seen.

This man is giving everything he has to fix a CLOGGED TOILET OF CONCRETE TURDS 💩.

Harsh but true but soon they’ll leave and his players to replace them.

GOCANES

Mario has had one offseason to purge the roster ...by this time next year a ton more will be gone as well... Does it excuse what happened Saturday??? Of course not but I think the "fanbase" put way more unrealistic expectations on the team based on their own wants rather than the reality of what Mario walked into and is trying to fix in under a year on the job...
He's human , he's gonna make mistakes ... If Gattis fails and is gone after a year then so be it , that stuff happens all the time , it's not just us... Realistically we have a ways to go.. That game sucked on Saturday , no doubt.. and hopefully it's a real reality check for Mario on what he needs to do as far as getting the team ready for each game because we all saw it, they weren't ready...
I know people don't like hearing this stuff but if a loss like this happens in the '24 season then **** yea we have major major problems but for now we're tearing away the muck to make room for the better stuff and during that process sometimes stupid crap like what we watched happens... We're 4 games in.. there's plenty of time to recover and move forward , but yea right now it hurts...

Nothing you said is incorrect but how can a man who won two PAC 12 have us look this unprepared, uninspired, and downright buffoonish. This is one of the most well paid staffs in America. No excuse for what we saw. This is simply not a good team. Can Mario facilitate enough immediate adjustments that at least have us showing improvement over the course of the year ? That’s his task now along with keeping a top recruiting class together cuz we definitely have a disease, JAGitis has infected this team and the cancer must be removed.
"JAGitis"... I thought you meant Gattis, and thought, "That's a good nickname for him." JAGattis.
