He has done a great job there and has torched the ACC the last 2 years beating NCST, NC twice and VT. He has a great offense with a great system. He is an ECU alum so might not want to leave but he could have many more athletes at his disposal here. He was Leach's assistant HC at Texas Tech.

ECU also gave S. Carolina a run in week 1 and probably should have won that game. Their QB is looking like a Heisman candidate, I can only imagine how Kaaya would look in his system with all the athletes UM has and will have the next couple of years. But with that being said, he hasn't really proven anything yet. UNC's defense is worst than UM's by a lot and they always play VTech hard. I think UM's fanbase is starved for a contender and it would probably take a while for Mcneil to flourish here.

He is an ECU alum so idk how that would play out in his head.

he went 10-3 last year and is on his way to another double digit win season

I would be worried about his recruiting but the guy can definitely coach

Kaaya wins Heisman with this dude as HC. He beat VT, hung 70 on NC and scared the crap out of SC--when have we done anything like that lately. It might go thee digits with our talent. I'm in if he gets Butch as DC.

We need some whos a beast on the trail.....we losin to many elite guys. No thanks
He's actually one of the most likeable, energetic guys in football. I think closing players and parents in South Florida would be a great strength of his.

I quoted you but I'm actually responding more to Dwinstitles. Honestly, I don't care if our head coach is a beast on the recruiting trail. Let him get some **** assistant coaches that are beasts. They do most of the legwork anyway. Plus, let me tell you something. If we get a head coach that knows his **** and has UM playing an exciting brand of football, we'll be more than ok. Look across college football and the NFL and while you will see the obvious studs from South Florida, you'll also see guys that have you thinking, "where in the **** did he come from?" There is enough talent in South Florida that if UM has a head coach that can actually freakin coach, we'll be pretty **** good. just my .02

Edit: Just want to clarify that I don't have a clue who the ECU coach is. I'm just speaking in general terms.

Let's see how the season ends. Some things to like and has shown year over year improvement but far from proven. That VT win is nice but could look a lot like our win over UF last year come December.

We could just call this Butch Davis guy.

No thank you, not an Xs and Os guy. Nothing exciting about that hire. It took him 20+ years as a college position coach to get hired even as a DC

Skip Holtz did the same thing at ECarolina

Have to consider that if he were to come, his OC would likely be offered the ECU HC position and not join him

My list:
1. Mike Gundy - would win a title in 3 years (long shot bc he is OK Lite alum and prob getting paid twice what we could offer)
2. Gary Patterson
3. Chad Morris
4. Chud
5. Butch

Not interested in him, we need a true 4-3 defensive minded coach who has put together great defenses, I'm so over the 3-4 defense.

Have you watch this guy on the sideline or is it that he does not have the high profile name so you assume he's not a good fit. He is in complete control of his team and they respond to his leadership. Intense but likable. Well AG is likable too, but we need intensity like that you see from Pete Carroll. Intense but likable!

What (realistically) coach would you like to see here? Please don't say Butch! How quickly some forget, but I remember being in the OB watching the talent we had and everybody agreed that Butch was not a good game day coach. He could build a team but he couldn't coach in big games. Who does that remind you of? Um!

The difference is Butch's talent won in spite of his coaching.

For all of the clamor over Butch Davis what did he do so much different and better than AG? Both recruited well with Butch having the edge. Butch had much better talent to start his tenure at the U. Butch was 31-15 through his first 4 years, and AG is 24-17 with 8 games to play. This is not to promote AG but Butch was not much better coaching the talent when all can agree he had more to work with. So please stop with the Butch Davis Campaign! And stop the high profile candidates that are nothing more than a pipe dream for this university.

Look at the landscape of realistic candidates based on what the U is willing to pay, and you have to strongly consider IF those few candidates want to come to Miami. We love the school but not everyone share our same affection. Open your eyes people......and get out of the past!
