A Message To My HOA

It’s a pretty nice middle class neighborhood and the chief of police is my next door neighbor so I don’t think it would ever get like that. I get why some people don’t like HOA’s though. The stuff you’re describing is why they exist, but some of them get carried away with it. I used to enjoy talking on CB radios and I have a 100ft. pine tree in the back yard so I put an antenna at the top. You could barely see it and they told me to take it down. Stuff like that is what irks you.

I’m fine with the cheaper common sense HOAs. Our place in TX is about that, $500 a year.

Our place in FL…..$355 a month. ******* scam. A gate and non heated pool. That’s it.

We’ve got a gate and a couple ponds. $475 year.
Wouldn’t suggest swimming in our ponds. 🐊

I moved into a young sub-division and they tried to have a HOA and us new home owners told them we didn’t want Antonio do with it and voted it out…best thing we ever did

F**K HOAs. They were originally created to keep black people from moving into white neighborhoods.
Oddly enough, I lived in two different neighborhoods with HOAs while living in SoFla and had plenty of black neighbors. One even gave me some tickets to…, a CANES GAME FO FREE!!!!

Not disputing what you said. At some point though, it’s probably best to let go of lingering animosity. Those neighbors were good peeps.

I will forever have beef with HOAs, not just because of that but they are silly a** organizations filled with losers on a power trip. My mom lives in a HOA community and received a $50 fine because someone came to visit her and parked their car on the street in the wrong direction. they can all burn

I’m happy you do this because in my past life, I created HOA documents as a lawyer, have served on an HOA board as the developer’s representative during transition from developer to property owner control and had to deal with all kinds of bull**** from the HOA where I once lived. I hate HOAs. They can serve a good purpose but too often you have a retired or stay at home housebitch with nothing better to do hounding people because you didn’t get approval for an upgraded mailbox or the garbage can being visible for 6 minutes.

@insaneinthecane loves HOAs. Where he lives the HOA President walks around with a machete cutting grass that creeps into the street.

For those reasons, I’m with you. I currently do not have one and won’t have one again.

Is that St Augustine grass? That's a nice consistent carpet.
My back yard has Zoysia. It's like a carpet. So much nicer than that anti-personnel Florida grass. Problem is that it stays brown 3-4 weeks longer in the spring so I'm overseeding it with tall fescue.
