Where at? 4 more years in the military and my wife and I will be looking for a good spot for milk cows, horses, and chickens.
Outside Pottsville PA. The property use to be a dairy farm when my parents bought it in 86’. It borders what use to be my Great Gandpas Turkey Farm. The turkey farm was huge, now filed with houses on lots ranging from 0.25 to over 0.5 acres per home. Back in the early 60s my Great Grandparents just wanted decent people to move in so they sold lots for $500 a pop. Those same lots go for like $30k for a 0.3 current day. We still have our 30 and will never sell though. It borders public land on the backside with Mennonites having 100 acres in between

There is nothing like taking for a walk your dog in your own woods though. Super fortunate and blessed.

I used to be a big Pottsville Maroons fan back in the day.

you talking about Lewistown valley?

Ya'll live in HOA communities?

Couldn't be me. Nah, not me.
The worst part is having to pay these a-holes $500 a year every February, and for what? The only thing they really do is pave the neighborhood every 4-5 years(if that). It’s highway robbery.

So disband your HOA.
At that annual rate it sounds old, and should (Declaration of Restrictions) be close to expiration under MRTA, unless you and your neighbors vote for preservation or revitalization.

Then you can save $500, enjoy potholes and enjoy your neighbor painting his house pink with **** fights in the front yard and 78 Camaros on concrete blocks. 😂

It’s a pretty nice middle class neighborhood and the chief of police is my next door neighbor so I don’t think it would ever get like that. I get why some people don’t like HOA’s though. The stuff you’re describing is why they exist, but some of them get carried away with it. I used to enjoy talking on CB radios and I have a 100ft. pine tree in the back yard so I put an antenna at the top. You could barely see it and they told me to take it down. Stuff like that is what irks you.

I despise HOA and COA tyrants.
When I buy a house/property, I review the Declaration of restrictions and if it common sense covenants etc., no problem. If they get into mulch color and plant species, I look elsewhere.
I always get on the Board to prevent abuse. I’ve been the Prez of my HOA for 13 years. When I took over half the community hated the other half, they were in debt and fighting two lawsuits. I cleaned it up, got rid of the old ******** and put my people on the board. Now we’re a well oiled machine, that only addresses real violations.
I’d pay someone to replace me, but no one wants it and the few that might, I won’t let fvck everything up again. 😂
