A&M [almost] hires Stoops

They kind of have to make a new hire quickly. As in by mid December. In previous years you could hire a new head coach in late Dec and he would still have time to salvage the February signing class. Now a new coach not only has to do that by Dec for ESD, but has the December transfer portal to contend with.

absolutely amazing how this coaching search is going lol I thought our last two hires got interesting but following the Aggie board has been hilarious as a person following from the outside in

You're right, he isn't the coach A&M wants but they need to be realistic about which coach they can get right now. Unless Urban is unretiring I don't see them getting the perfect coach.

Also, we need to keep perspective when talking Kentucky football. That program was nothing before Stoops. Their football program was the equivalent of Vanderbilt. Winning 7, 7, 7 8, 10, and 10 games at Kentucky is HARD, especially when you consider them playing in the SEC. Kentucky isn't the type of program you win big at in football. Stoops built Kentucky from nothing so telling me Stoops wouldn't win at Texas A&M is hard for me to believe.

Man stop, I mean yeah He's beaten Florida, but so has Georgia Southern & Vanderbilt. Stoops resume is padded with wins against cupcakes, like Golden's was before we hired Him.

Yeah, that's what I thought his reaction would be.

He lives a relatively stress-free life as a Head Coach and he's built his team in his image.

Texas A&M is a mad house - I didn't think he'd want that smoke.
What this tells you is they got some bites from a big fish or two and wouldn't commit. Cause knowing mark this would be his dream situation. Dude LOVES the smoke. Think a&m is ****** up here. Coach stoops is exactly what they need with those resources behind him. All that splash **** will just make u drown.

He took the Buffalo job didn’t he lol? Plus that team has a lot of talent. The right guy can take off running there.
You must be joking lol! He took the Buffalo job after being at Wisconsin Whitewater. Then from Buffalo to Kansas where he has done a fine job. The point is to advance to bigger better jobs. Why in God's name would Leipold go from Kansas to Syracuse if he has done a good job at Kansas? Leipold would be a good candidate for many desirable jobs. He has Kansas on a steady upswing from 2-10 to 6-7 to 8-4 with a shot for a 9 win season at Kansas in his 3rd year. He is going to be on many lists and would be on my list for Miami if we were looking. I think he would be a great hire at ATM. However if I were Leipold I wouldn't touch that school. Seems like a toxic situation. The fact that Mike Elko turned them down speaks volumes to me.

Hate to be the one to say it BUT if alfraud stays in his lane FAR away from the south and never attaches no dnofrio to his name alfraud would have an entirely different situation right now. He should've learned from schiano. His time here destroyed his coaching career entirely.

Stoops with those resources is bad news for the sec... He made Kentucky basically competent with NOTHING. Curious to see what he does now.
UK may not have a long football history of success, but check their budget. They do have resources. Yes, the Aggies will have even more for facilities and NIL by comparison, but the Wildcats were not operating on a shoe string budget.

Here’s the real difference. UK had no expectations until Stoops introduced them to consistent success. Aggies will not be so patient.

Bruh. They're bottom 3 In the SeC. They do not have the budget. Why do yall keep saying this?

All schools have to cater to the big donors somewhat, but the A&M situation is what happens when you let it get out of control and allow them to basically run the athletic department. Auburn has the same issue. Not surprisingly, those are two of the most dysfunctional programs out there.

Those fans have to be some of the dumbest out there. Dudes like stoops beat dudes like Saban and Smart. 10 years ago they could drop 50 on anybody and they still lost. I don’t understand what’s wrong with people? how many defense first, power run teams do you need to see win before y’all start to understand?
No thankie. Me no likie bro style. Me likie Jeff Traylor if me aTm.

He got a raise

Go Canes!

He’s got the best job in CFB tbh..absolutely no expectations other than at least 7/8 wins, compete for double digits every 2/3 years, get extension lol

They see LSU & genuinely think that should be us. They see Texas and think that should be us. ATM is upset they have thoroughbreds at WR the last 2 years along with above average RBs but can’t get those guys in space regularly..between
A. Smith, E. Stewart & Muhammad none have come close to 1k in that system. Which is crazy given the talent..which tbh, I don’t blame them.

It’s a cautionary tale I hope doesn’t get repeated here
