A&M [almost] hires Stoops

If I’m Auburn, Bama or Tenn, I’d be on the phone with Cameron Coleman right now, like “Look kid, unless you plan on converting to DE you better make the right choice before you fck off the first year of your college career..”

I think Lane and Freeze have the inside track to flipping him. He visited Ole Miss recently I believe. Sounds like Auburn is more likely though.

Stoops is a real solid ball coach. Had some solid defenses at FSU and then made kentucky into a respectable opponent for all but the most talented of teams.

He is absolutely not who you should hire if you're the richest p5 program on earth and trying to spend your way to a title.
I figured the best job he could get was like a Michigan State type of program. I just don't understand why you fire Jimbo and pay him 70M to hire a guy like Mark Stoops. What his ceiling? 9-3

If he can keep Petrino or hire someone on his level or higher, they will be a force. Do not underestimate a Stoops with top notch resources.

Yeah but I don't think Stoops offensive philosophy is very open at all. He is a traditional defensive coordinator conservative coach from the 90's.

It’s the highest officially ever and by a good margin with NO offset… he’s getting every penny and their 12th man foundation is paying for it…

No their definatly going more frugal this time as their AD already said he’s cutting costs like leaving on Fridays instead of Thursdays, eliminating off field roles (analysts), and trimming down the staff budget for the on field guys.

They’ll still be spending but they’ve definitely realized they ****ed up with Jimbo
Frugal? Mark Stoops makes 8 mill at Kentucky now. TAMU will pay him more.

What makes him a bad hire? Because he got fired at Cuse? Everyone gets fired coaching at that school lol.
Because he had 1 good offensive season at Syracuse. He was hired for his offense and his offenses were amongst the worst in the ACC every single year.

So actually…you’re right, I definitely would love to see A&M hire him. Would be fantastic to watch haha
