I said the staff was impressed by him snd he was running away with the job. Rushing a passer is quite a bit different than putting a slower lb in space and eventually getting exposed in space. De is what it is. Nobody is saying Mccloud will be Reggie white but I’d be surprised if he didn’t have a solid year at the very least. Athletically Mccloud at de abd BJ at lb are two different worlds.

This is why I keep mentioning spots and the portal. The positive is we’re getting some depth and talent. We’ll have talented guys moving into starting roles next year ,
just lacking experience.

Which is the very reason why we need to find a way to get the young kids meaningful minutes this year.

All of this is 100% correct and let’s be real here. Jess Simpson and Manny Diaz know what an edge kid should be in this defense. We KNOW there is talent at that spot, somewhere. Albeit most of it unproven, but I’m going to bet that somewhere in that room, there are a couple kids who can make an impact at this level. So, if Jess and Manny think that McCloud belongs in that group, I’m all for it. He played LB last year out of necessity. We didn’t have anyone else in the event he was terrible, and he was. That isn’t the case here. So if he plays, I think he’s going to be a good player. And if he doesn’t, then he’s not good enough and hopefully continues to be a good leader. This is pretty much the least of the potential problems on this team.
 
@Cribby boss, do you believe any of the young corners pass AB7 up ? From what im reading it appears dunson is trying to secure that #4 spot on the depth chart.

Has the AARP contacted Zach about doing some type of ad for them.Seems like a natural match to me…
