Fair question on Lane - but reality is that LSU is about 20 spots higher in the talent composite (maybe more) than Ole Miss.
Brian Kelly is also an excellent coach. Being able to get ND to the playoffs multiple times is pretty amazing given that recruits have to meet NDs academic standards. And the other remarkable thing has made the playoffs with significantly less talent than other programs. I believe that the last time ND made the playoffs, they had four 5 stars on the roster. The next closest team in the playoffs had nine 5 stars.
I don't have many complaints if a coach loses on the road to a team that is absolutely loaded and coached by one of the best coaches in cfb. Ole Miss already has several wins over good teams this season, so at this point there isn't any reason to think that Ole Miss is only able to beat teams without a pulse.
And to be fair - what I said would have applied to Cristobal too. I would have zero complaints if UM had lost to TAMU and had won all the rest of the games against less talented or comparably talented teams, even if the games were boring slogs.
