A “ SHINGLES” weekend OMG

Oh by the way over the past couple weeks or so I've been having extreme stress at home and work very high anxiety with no sanctuary for relief way more then the usual I know this is the trigger.

A week ago I thought my back was out up by my shoulder blades went to chiropractor he did his thing really did NOT to help ease the tremendous pain especially at night , made an appointment with my deep message therapist and when I took my shirt of I heard a OMG your back full of blisters on your right side and your chest under arms , you have shingles cannot work on you with this virus, so many sleepless nights every night geeez.

I freaked WHAT WHAT he took pictures to show me again I freaked , rushed home showed my wife she freaked. I called my doctor and sent him photos and he confirmed SHINGLE and called the same medications (3) you all shared.

Friends even with meds I still have pain but the edge is starting to weaken a bit.........A BIT I say little bit.Last night I was moaning and rolling around in bed.

I'll be checking in moving forward , I needed to share thank you ALL.

Goes to show you that while this site is world renowned for not only giving opponents **** and eating its own....when a fellow Cane or Cane poster is in true pain.....We'll rally to help as much as we can

@GOCANES05 ****, brother, sorry to hear that. I have been through that misery myself. My final semester in law school I was WAY behind the ball heading into finals week. I basically had to teach myself Federal Income Tax Law in about 10 days time, on top of prepping for all the other finals. I wasn't sure it was possible as I had dug myself in a bad hole. But I wouldn't graduate law school if I didn't pass these tests. So I bought myself a bunch of study materials and literally locked myself in a room upstairs for about a week straight. Non stop studying, no breaks, didn't eat much, not sure I even showered. The good news is, I aced the exams. But...

One evening I was sitting on the floor against a couch reading when I just had this odd sensitivity all along the right side of my torso. Never felt anything quite like it. It wasn't really painful, more like that "achy bones" feeling you get when you are sick. Brushed it off and kept plodding along. That night I wake up in the middle of the night to my right eye just in intense pain, like horrible burning, dry eye to the 10000000th degree, and tears pouring out. I'm like WTF?!? I get up and look in the mirror and don't see anything wrong with my eye other than it being red and tearing like a ****. That day when I got home from school, I took off my shirt and had shingles all over the right side of my torso, basically from sternum to spine on the right side. I didn't know anything about shingles at the time, but my wife recognized it immediately.

I forget what medicine they gave me, but nothing did much. Had the rash for at least 2 months or so, and it hurt daily. It wasn't life-stopping pain, so it sounds like I had a relatively minor case compared to many others. But man, it sucked! I later read how one of the most common places shingles can manifest is the eye, and it can be really bad including leading to you going blind. I always think back to that night I woke up with my eye burning like I've never experienced before. Because it was that very next day I saw the rash on my side for the first time, I have to think that night it was trying to flare up in my eye and somehow someway my eye battled it off. Scary sh-it! The whole episode freaked me out for a while as I thought only really old or really sick people (i.e. immune system in shambles) got shingles. Turns out that's not true. It can get anyone if you're harboring the virus (which we pretty much all are) and often comes up during periods of massive stress or fatigue, which makes perfect sense re my situation. That was 11 years ago, have never had an issue with it since.

You'll get past it, GOCANES. But yeah, it's awful. Good luck to you, man!
 
My dad was in the hospital because of a "heart attack." Heart specialists were giving him test after test. As he lay shirtless in bed between tests, a nurse walks by, glances down at his chest and says, "Hey, you've got shingles" . . .

As you recover, discuss your very high stress and anxiety with a health care professionals. Let them know it is severe. This is a huge factor in your health and you can’t let it go. Take charge and LET THEM KNOW

Man that sounds bad! I feel for you bro!

I’m going on 42 and had chicken pox in middle school. Should I be looking to vaccinate now or is it better to wait till 50?

If you’re getting shingles and you are young there’s something wrong with you besides the shingles you need to get checked out.

Not true. While people with compromised immune systems (old, some other sickness, etc) are the most common people to get shingles, it is not at all true that they are the only ones who get it. As I mentioned above, I got shingles because I was completely run down during a marathon finals prep session in law school. I was 31 and perfectly healthy otherwise. Anytime you're super ragged out, the virus which is buried in most of us can come out.

I agree it could also be because something else serious is wrong with your health and your immune system is down, and therefore you should get yourself checked out. ****, I was downright panicked when I got it at 31 because I had the same false notion in my head back then that you do now. But your comment above simply isn't accurate.

So true, I eat well (vegan) all vitals and blood work in order but stress has always been an issue with me trying to fix everything and a YES man come to the rescue guy all my life never putting myself first never have wouldn't know what to do if someone ever did something for me sad to say but true brother tough for a WARRIOR , maybe it's time since I'm moving on and need make changes and yes change must happen.

I need to learn to say NO and it will be ok , good point OCCC I thank you for your concern friend.

In the 90's I knew someone who caught chicken pox in his late 30's from his daughter. He ended up on life support with critical organs shutting down. His doctor told his wife to prepare for the worse and to consider funeral arrangements. He miraculously survived but had considerable health/physical problems afterwards.
