9th in the AP Poll

You guys and your poor me act need to get your heads out of the sand. We may as well have lost yesterday. That team is absolute trash and decimated by injuries.

Like I said earlier in the week, we needed to win that game by 30 or it was a stronger statement against us than it was for us with a close win.

Our team is not as good as you think. Our schedule is not as good as we think (so far). We do not deserve to be ranked any higher than we are because from an objective perspective, we are fake as **** paper tigers waiting to get **** stomped by one of our next two opponents.

People who aren't miami fans think we are frauds, and based on the schedule so far and the results, they cannot be argued against until we are holding an ACC Championship trophy, or at the very earliest after beating both VT and ND.

Funny when the narrative was that the SEC was sooooo strong from top to bottom that all that mattered in conference play were "W's". NOW we're strangely focused on "style" points. Hmmmm.

SEC bias absolutely....still don't think we're being treated unfairly this season in the polls. We haven't done a single thing that would lead most to believe that we're better than any of the teams ranked ahead of us....only ranking I take issue with is ND jumping so high.

You sound like a cuck that's swallowed too much espn swill. There is no way to defend Wisconsin at 4 and miami at 9. Lol

you sound like you just threw out a bunch of words from your fave fantasy **** search and don't actually watch anyone else play.

Way to deflect and not answer the point. Lol. You're a self hating cuck that just takes what espn dishes out.

Or I actually watch the games and have (like many others) watched us look like garbage for long periods of games and against teams that aren't terribly good. You can be on your whole "waaah espn hates Miami waaaaaah" nonsense. Doesnt change the fact that we look just decent and most of those teams have shown way more than we have this season

I'm okay with our ranking

Only part that bothers me is Clemson

They could lose Kelly Bryant to injury and lose out the rest of the season and CFP committee would still put them in because "with Bryant" etc..

Completely off the hook for losing to Syracuse when Syracuse was beating then with Bryant in the game. It's so moronic

The good news, the next two weekends will sort out where we should be ranked. ****, just look at the UNC prediction thread and then the results from the game. Based on those predictions and what happened in reality, one take away would be that you as our fans overestimated how good this team really is.

I don't think we have any valid arguments with where we're ranked based on our close games and our opponents record on the field. That's just me though, being objective.

2 wins and we should be top 5 if not top 3....anything other than that and we shouldn't be mad at our ranking

And everyone that claims to not care about polls needs to realize that (not specific to just this season) they're ceding that we're NEVER making the Playoff unless we're an undefeated team. Because all the early polling and narrative/propaganda shaping determines which 1 loss teams get in. It's why I'm such a strong advocate for expansion to an 8 team Playoff with objective and not subjective standards for at least 5 of those slots.
I am fine with an 8 team playoff, but the real travesty last season was OSU getting in without even playing for its conference championship. Heck, it got in _because_ it didnt play for it, as it would have lost. No team that doesn't win its conferene should be eligible for a spot in a 4 team playoff.

8 teams would eliminate the worthy omission argument, because if you arent one of the 8, you arent a potential winner.

These mfs treating miami like we are some type of group of 5 school.... come tf on...

BS. They’re treating us just fine. We struggled scoring against UNC. Hopefully, this is a wake up call for next week.

Clemson last year had 7 1 possessions score games in the 2016 season, fsu in 2014 had 6 1 possession score game. The narrative is different only because miami.... we are winning and still have dropped 2 straight weeks even with teams losing ahead of us including a team losing directly to a team we just beat

Lol at yet another ridiculous comparison to 2016 Clemson. Five of those one-possession wins were against ranked opponents, including Alabama, Louisville, Auburn, FSU, and VA Tech.

We don’t have one comparable win yet.

Speaking of Clemson, did you see the way they beat up GA Tech. Had a couple of our wins been dominant like that, we would get the benefit of the doubt and not fall in the rankings.

Regardless, as others have said, we’ll be in the top four if we win the next two games.

auburn finished w 5 losses last year, lville 4, fsu 3, and tech 4.
troy was their other one possession game and lost to pitt and barely got by NCSU

GA tech last night played in a constant rainstorm (we know how this hurts them) and had Clem coming off a bye like most teams do when they play tech.

[After Week 7]

When was the last time a team fell after winning?

What about Auburn on New Years day 1984.

Technically Auburn didn't fall in ranking but we jumped them (previously they were ranked No 3) after we (previously we were ranked No 4) beat Nebraska (previously ranked No 1) and Texas (previously ranked No 2) lost. I think that qualities.

So over 30 years ago?

That's the whole point. It doesn't happen often.

For the most part, rankings don't matter until the end of the year. We just have to keep winning and it tends to work out. The only time I felt we were really screwed by the rankings was in 2000 when FSU played OU instead of us.

Another emotional ill informed poster. Those are all high quality wins, as each team finished ranked:

Alabama 2
FSU 8
VA Tech 16
Louisville 21
Auburn 24

As of this point in the season we have not one comparable win to any of those. And we just squeaked by a team that is 1-8, its sole victory against Old Dominion.

Again, if we win the next two games then we will move way up the rankings. But the voters are basing their picks on our existing resume.

I'm new, so sorry if this isn't where I should ask, but which poll is the "correct" one & why are there two polls anyways?
Canes should be #6 in both polls.
Thanks

While I can respect the average Georgia fan's allegiance to "CMR" there certainly seems to be a little more thin skin around here when anyone speaks truth about the almighty Dawgs and Curby. Kinda makes ya wonder if some of us are Canes fans first ...

They could move us to number 1, and it won't matter if we don't take care of the next game. Could care less how we win, but I do care how we lose. So do the polls. All that needs to happen is to take it one game at a time and have at least one more point than whoever we're playing that given week. Polls will handle themselves, team needs to handle theirs. So far each is doing their jobs.

This.

TCU and Pedo State were probably saying "This" too......all the way up to when they were snubbed.

I'm not worried about being snubbed. That's worrying about something that none of us control. If we run the table, all the way through, we still win.

And Wisconsin struggled to score against Illinois.

But they still won by 2 TDs though. We're talking about 5 point victory vs a depleted 1-7 team that had a chance to win it if not for a fumble.

I responded to struggled to score. We scored the same as Wisconsin did.

Which is probably a fair standard for THIS year. Just be ready to apply that standard to all future years for us too in this system.

This is ******* insane. Just beat the team that beat clemson yet we fall in the rankings 2 weeks in a row while they move up?

oh stop..

we beat 1-7 north caroline missing 45 players with a 3rd string quaterback playing by 5 points while getting 5 turnovers

we deserve to be disrespected

UNC, even with all their injuries, had the SAME number of active scholarship players as us. We've been playing at 73-74 players, not including injuries, all year. Yet none of you have mentioned that

Plus their QB wasn't really hurt, the coach literally just decided not to put him back in

they lost 59-7 to va tech

And we beat Duke on the road by more than VT beat Duke at home. So?

Do you really want teenagers to be playing potentially 16 games in a season? I'll take the four-game playoff...

1. If this is a major concern, how about you drop a game from the regular season? Remove a cupcake game.

2. The four-game playoff model creates too many potential problems. 8 is the magic number. 5 conference champions + 3 At-large.

Exactly. Player "safety" and "teenagers" was also one of the weakest arguments against a few extra teams playing one addl game a year.

It's also so horrible to see all those kids from Division I-AA, Division II, and Division III who are lifelong cripples due to the extra couple of games that the playoff teams have to play.

Lower divisions have shorter seasons. I believe division 2 only has 8 game seasons

D2 has 11 game seasons.
