9/3 Practice Thread

Gus might be a big man, but he runs like a 75 pound Pop Warner back. Truthfully, I've seen Optimist players at the 95 lb level who run harder than Gus.

I don't want to rip on a player, but there must have been several local players who were better players than Gus that we didn't even look at in that recruiting cycle.

So all of a sudden, our dts look amazing because our offensive line struggled

Uh NO. They look amazing because they were pretty dominant when they were turned loose against UL. I saw Huert pushing TWO guys back into the backfield at times while being DOUBLE TEAMED and still getting penetration and clogging the middle. Jenkins showed some real flashes, and had he wrapped up better, would have had some impressive TFLs. Pierre had some big penetration and made some impressive plays. We got a LOT of penetration with our front 4 at times. That was more than we have seen since this staff has been here.

Im not saying these guys are a GOAT DL, but there is talent on that DL, and it looked pretty good against UL.

I'm sure the players give zero ****s about what jersey they get. Oh noes they gave duke a white jersey.

Exactly.

Another "mind game" from master psychologist Alfred Golde

Don't you guys get it? No orange jerseys for offensive players = James Coley finally starts calling plays that convert third downs.

Is he capable 1 out of 20 3rd down conversion severely questions any capabilities.

I was pleasantly surprised as well. But my fear is that it was the result of Louisville starting a walk-on center. Regardless, they absolutely looked a lot better than what we've seen in the past three years.

DL looked the best it has since that slack jawed ****** Onofrio began running our D (into the ground).

Who cares about the ******* jersey colors. Im done with the Al Golden gimmicks. Perryman & Duke Should have on robes made of diamonds & golden & coley should have on kick me signs.

Duke, Joe Yearby in white (second team) jerseys today. Huh.

I don't see anyone in a 1st-team orange jersey for offensive players, but far away still from #Canes

No players in orange (first-team) jerseys today. After that offensive performance...

Seems the media got a snapshot view of practice today.

Did any of the coordinators get a demotion? That game is on the play calling. bama could not run consistently in a nine man front with undersized backs like we have. Really Al, taking the kids orange jerseys!!!

We could have shut Petrino out on offense if we had a somewhat competent DC. Not joking. We missed our opportunity at a truly dominant defensive performance. The DL did exactly what we have been told for years that the goal was. They controlled things up front and were disruptive.

Still got guys behind them, outnumbering the offense two to one, covering ******* nobody.

I rewatched 1st half, Hertelou was an animal as was Courtel Jenkins. Best DT play we've had in Golden's tenure easily.

Perryman was fantastic too. Chickillo and Kamalu were both good also. Louisville had a veteran OL too, 4 returning starters.

If we were playing a 4-3 base and had Hertelou and Jenkins manning the middle....Well one can dream I guess.

The sad thing is that we probably should be. We actually now have more quality DL than LBs right now. Before Blue and Figs got the boot, maybe we had the horses to run an effective 3-4, but right now, a 4-3 with DP, Grace, and Armbrister, and rotating Pierre, Jenkins, Huert, Kamalu, and Wyche situationally, would be a F*CKING juggernaut in the middle of the line. Have Chick and McCord, with (praying) AQM if he doesn't get the boot, and maybe Chad to get some reps, and you have a **** of a DL rotation.

This is what I've been saying. We run a 4-3 and we've got some beasts on that line... Chick/Kamalu/Heurt/AQM and reserves: Thomas/Jenkins/McCord

That's solid depth.

Hertololu missed 2 EASY tackles in the backfield. He had to do a better job of finishing plays. Chickilo too. The D Line is better. It was week 1 so they can only get improve. week 1 games are usually sloppy or a lot of missed tackles, cramps, miss communication, & penalties. I still think Miami will win 9 games.

I didn't see AQM play, but Tyriq McCord flashed on my tv screen. He finished his plays off. I think he will be good in the NFL

If we under-achieve again this year, the only color change I want to see is this...

yet Al wants to put this on the players!!!

There may be a point where talent can compensate for coaching ineptness.

just not sure the 2001 canes could overcome this unholy trinity of ag, jc, md

missed tackles happens by the best of them. That picture that Rok posted in another thread is what kills this team. total miss aligning defense and being truly aggressive. not this delayed bull crap we saw.

Golden said S Kiy Hester is dealing with a personal matter. Declined to address status with the team.
