75 yards in the 2nd half

I don’t want to see Lofton getting the ball on critical downs. I’ve seen enough over the last two years. He’s just not clutch.
I thought both of those throws were bad reads by Mensah. He had Moore over the middle for a first down on the first one, and Toney sitting down in the zone for a first down on the second one. I don't think the plan was to chuck it Lofton outside 1on1 down the field on both of those plays.

Pretty much the smart thing to do on the road when you have a lead and trust your DC, as opposed to forcing the ball and turning it over which probably loses us the game a la SMU.
Just play sound ball. Get your other guys involved, keep the defense honest, run the ball, and don’t force things. You don’t have to spam WR screens.

Too many casual takes. The interior OL was the same as it was when we scored 24 and had 300 yards in the first half. Mensah set the ACC record for consecutive completions and we were steamrolling. Something legit happened that changed this game to the point where we went from the greatest show on turf to a bunch of morons trying to **** a doorknob. It was glaringly ****ed up beyond Wake adjusting or Shannon becoming a ****** or anything like that. Let’s hope it’s actually not something that will derail our season

They did try to run the ball. They weren't able to bc the OL is an issue. A lot of 2nd and 9s 10s and 11s.
I agree and that needs to be fixed. My biggest thing with Dawson when he goes conservative is his route concepts. Everything is short and the defense can easily keep everything in front of them. You got to keep the defense honest. Unless pass blocking is an issue we should never see them go into a shell like that.

But you are correct that run blocking is an issue.

The interior OL is def an issue and needs to improve if this teams wants to see close to the success they saw last year. Injuries and that are my only concern.

What's wild is we averaged just over 6.5 ypc with our RBs (on 21 carries) after our 3rd quarter TD. We had been running the ball with great success!

I think the team just lost focus when the fumble recovery got negated. We would have been up 31-7, 20 minutes left in the game, 1st & 10 from our own 40 yard line. The game turned into Murphy's Law after that.

Your up 3 scores with a quarter and half left. Top two backs are hurt along with Toney. Mensah taking hits. Wake stacking the box to take away the run. Dawson countered with screens as an extension of the run game. The oline is not where it needs to be but also it’s hard to maintain and pick up your blocks when a team knows a run is coming and bringing extra bodies. 1st half Wake said we taking away the deep pass game which opened the run and we took advantage. 2nd half Wake stacked the box to take away the run and starting bringing pressure. We could have easily took advantage of that with the passing game but your top two pass protection backs are out and your interior line is not where it needs to be to trust Mallory and Pringle in pass blocking. Wake became one dimensional on offense and had no answer for the nickel blitz. Mario betted on Heatherman and the defense to get the win without having Mensah taking an injury. Fans not gone like it but it was the right call.

Injuries had to be a concern. Seems like they were just trying to get out of there without anybody else getting hurt.

But I agree in premise. To go from unstoppable to 5 straight 3 and outs is confusing.

I was ****ed before the half when coach Macho manage the clock at the end of that drive and OC cannon DWEEB calling plays on that drive.

This explanation makes more sense. I didn’t really think about it from a RB pass pro angle, but you certainly don’t want a true freshman and Pringle as the guys picking up blitzers.

Team needs to get healthy man.

What if WF doesn't hold on half the plays? We might've allowed 1 TD
Holding occurs in every game on every play. Refs gonna ref, overall they called a pretty good game and a lot of holds. I didnt like the roughing the passer calls but they called it consistently both ways
