6'9 JUCO OT Jacob Hawks commits to Canes

The Canes landed one of the biggest OL in America with the commitment of Topeka, Kansas native Jacob Hawks.

Hawks has drawn comparisons to Markel Bell, and it's easy to see why- he's 6'9 3/4, 338 pounds with an 83.5-inch wingspan, 35-inch arms and 10-inch hands. Like Bell, Hakws went to JUCO for further development despite being a full qualifier out of high school. He started at Left Tackle as a freshman for the Hutchinson CC Blue Dragons, who went 11-1 and finished as national JUCO runner...

Miami extended an offer to Hawks in March and immediately became a major player in his recruitment. North Texas also offered and hosted him for a visit. However, Miami is obviously the much better program. Miami brought him in for his official visit this weekend, pushed during his time on campus and sealed the deal.

Miami explored adding a project offensive lineman earlier this offseason in international rugby player Neff Giwa. While Giwa generated a ton of buzz, it’s important to note that he has never put on pads in his life. Hawks started every game at left tackle for Hutchinson C.C. last season and played a big role in his team finishing with an 11-1 record and reaching the junior college national championship game.
