What's with this misconception that pattern-matching will give up big plays?
Pattern-matching is great because it creates much smaller windows for QB's to throw the ball into. That's exactly why it was invented.
All this talk about us choosing to spot drop cause it's "safer" and keeps everything in front of us makes no sense to me. Pattern matching keeps everything in front of you too. It's not a dangerous scheme at all.
Never once have i said "ahh we got burnt cause we were pattern matching!"
