5 things I expect to see

1. Zone drops. I expect to see one of our DEs or a LB lined up at Edge and drop back into coverage. Lightfoot is likely to have an opportunity for a pick like UF did against Chambliss. It may change the entire game. They also run a lot of quick outs from inside WRs that allow opportunities for a break on the ball. Fitz, heads up, kid.

2. DT movement. I expect our DTs to collapse their interior, but our ends and Safety blitzes will determine if the play is extended. It may be the key to the entire game. UGA did it, but couldn't get home because Chambliss or Lacy broke contain.

3. Edge Set. I expect to see our DEs play under more control this game and set the edge against Lacy's bouncing. Lacy effectively bounced multiple runs he initially pressed against UGA.

4. Vertical attempts. I expect Carson Beck to throw more digs and deep in routes like he did a handful of times against SMU. This should come off PA and it's needed early to keep their Safeties soft.

5. Offensive blitz counters. I expect them to try to duplicate TAMU's blitz plan, and ideally we have underneath routes and a better overall plan for quick hitters.

If things go correctly, we should win. But, things don't often go as planned. If Chambliss runs more, I think it neutralizes some of our advantages, and maybe it becomes a toss-up game. I'm hoping one of our INT opportunities or two hit and flip the game.

I know this will be really unpopular but I don’t see us containing TC to the point we can win.
Our offense has been very fortunate the last two games with the defense playing lights out. TC scares the crap out of me, because our offense has not shown the ability, as of late, to really score.
I really hope I’m wrong…just MHO.

Facts. Cleaning up the penalties has helped the offense out so much. This year, we are a high success rate (#16 in the country)/low explosivity (20th percentile) offense. Last year we were #2 in success rate and in the 98th percentile in explosivity. Even those 5 yard pre-snap penalties were poison to our offense.

Want to add, I'm optimistic we solve the lack of explosives, in the run game at least, against Ole Miss. I went and checked and prior to the playoffs 12.3% of Fletcher's carries went for at least 10 yards. In the 2 playoff games that share has jumped to 22.2%. With the way our OL, TEs, and WRs are run blocking, it's only a matter of time till he starts turning more of those 10-19 yard runs into 20+ yarders, IMO.
I agree. Getting creative with Toney+CJ getting healthy+Lofton wrinkles+cleaning up OL penalties+Marion stepping up…

This is all going to lead to more splashes. It won’t turn us into Ole Miss but we don’t need to be.

I think on Obvious pass downs, we should rush Bain /Blount from inside, closer to the QB, less space
for him to escape, and keep Mesidor and Lightfoot who are more twitchy on the edges.

Miami had 8 possessions against Ohio State, scored on 3 and fumbled inside the red zone on another. That's against the #1 defense in the country. Ohio State hadn't given up more than 16 points all year. Our offense scored 17 and should have scored at least 20.

The Texas A&M game is the only thing you can point to and we missed 3 FGs and fumbled at midfield.

Our offense has been lucky enough to play 2 of the best defenses in the league with one being statistically the best defense in decades

I think we’ll have 10-11 possessions (maybe 12) and we should have 4-6 scores.

This. Great thread btw.

We have had 1 offensive play - the Fletcher run against A&M - of more than 20 yards in our two playoff games.

Don't know if anyone can filter for it, but I can't imagine upsetting a team favored by more than a TD with your longest offensive play going for 19 yards - as we did against OSU - has happened more than a handful of times in college football since the forward pass became a thing.

Our offense has been pretty efficient executing in a phone booth, but we've also left a ton of points on the field on offense in the playoff, because we haven't produced explosive plays. I'll breath a lot easier tonight if we expand our margin of error a bit by hitting some explosives.
Agree. I said it before OSU, but we shouldn’t concede anything off the bus. Don’t be so conservative and calculating that you limit the opportunity to separate.

Who says they can hold Mali on a post? Or CJ or Marion deep? You don’t know unless you try. We have the O line to hold up, which is half the battle, so be smart with it but take shots.

Like I mentioned above, I just cannot imagine they retreat as consistently when our tape indicates we will run them the **** over if so and our QB has previously struggled with some panicked decisions. I really, really hope they just retreat into the redzone, and then I hope Dawson doesn't out-think himself when we get there. Run them over.
I am a little more confident in the offense now that I see some Pistol and Under Center and real play action looks paired out of the run look, seemed like we had more of a weird mismatched offense earlier in the year.

BOOTS LACED!!!

Sound on please..

@LuCane I felt like we were in the end game dam near 1st qtr on with Josh Pate Back door warning.. Its like getting spoilers to the movie and just sitting there like sigh :snoopfacepalm:

I will now be known as “Squatrodomus”

I will be throwing the bones and studying the planets this week and see what they tell me

1. We dropped like 4 INTs, though none how I had envisioned out of the zone drop.

2. We did a good job against the run, outside of one explosive, but Chambliss just got the ball out so quickly.

3. Lacy is a dude and I said up and down how I thought he was their best player. Chambliss in that system is **** on earth, though. Ball is out too quickly. His footwork is +.

4. Basically won the game on a 3rd down conversion with a dig route.

5. Thought we were ok with blitz counters and honestly just overthought key situations. We left like 10 points on the board IN THE FIRST QUARTER. Just keep running the ball when that's what's there, man. No need to go off so many predetermined things. No need to force balance in either direction.

Chambliss ran at the end. He was a pain in the ***, to be fair. We could have flipped the game with even 2 of those INTs.

Heatherman had as good of a gameplan you can ask for against the #1 offense in the country. Only the 3rd time they scored under 30 this year

Thought we contained the qb really well and got pressure when needed to disrupt the timing. They only had the ball for 18 minutes, we had it for 41 minutes

What won the game was they went 2/10 on 3rd downs (we went 11/19)
