5 things I expect to see

1. Zone drops. I expect to see one of our DEs or a LB lined up at Edge and drop back into coverage. Lightfoot is likely to have an opportunity for a pick like UF did against Chambliss. It may change the entire game. They also run a lot of quick outs from inside WRs that allow opportunities for a break on the ball. Fitz, heads up, kid.

2. DT movement. I expect our DTs to collapse their interior, but our ends and Safety blitzes will determine if the play is extended. It may be the key to the entire game. UGA did it, but couldn't get home because Chambliss or Lacy broke contain.

3. Edge Set. I expect to see our DEs play under more control this game and set the edge against Lacy's bouncing. Lacy effectively bounced multiple runs he initially pressed against UGA.

4. Vertical attempts. I expect Carson Beck to throw more digs and deep in routes like he did a handful of times against SMU. This should come off PA and it's needed early to keep their Safeties soft.

5. Offensive blitz counters. I expect them to try to duplicate TAMU's blitz plan, and ideally we have underneath routes and a better overall plan for quick hitters.

If things go correctly, we should win. But, things don't often go as planned. If Chambliss runs more, I think it neutralizes some of our advantages, and maybe it becomes a toss-up game. I'm hoping one of our INT opportunities or two hit and flip the game.

DTs should force Chambliss right into Bain, Mesidor, or Lightfoot.

DB blitz getting to Chambliss.

One thing Chambliss does when he buys time that he's been getting away with, is turning his back to the defense. Constantly having his back to the defense while trying to change direction and buy time. I just don't see how that can be sustainable.

Don't they play a bit of a soft umbrella style? Lance was saying they play soft and contain style defense and looks like they know they don't have dudes on D. A lot of 10 yard dig routes will probably be there. If that's the case they are really the exact defense we want to play. Soft against the run, they don't get a lot of pressure, and allows Beck to get the ball out quickly all day completing 75% of his passes.

Fitz is our secret weapon this game. Get the best athlete on the field out there

I expect them to lean forward on the run. Obviously, it's my guess. If they play us completely soft, they immediately hand us control of the game and it becomes about us f'in up the schedule or losing focus/turnovers. Their entire coaching staff seems to follow the "do what makes things uncomfortable" philosophy - leftover from Lane - so I expect them to emulate some of TAMU's attack.

Just commented this on another post but that's not going to work against guys like Lightfoot and Scott. Scott in particular will track him down quick and has been an elite tackler in space.

IMO playing soft fits with knowing they can score. All they need is a few stops to win most of the time. If I was playing our offense I def would load the box and hope Carson has a bad game.

I hope they follow that. Like you, I think the way against our offense is exactly that: try to freak out Carson and hope he panics. I'll say a prayer they do the opposite.

I need d line to get hands up, this is rhythm offense that has to stay on track and knocking the ball down is like a sack. If we can get 5 of those that would be major.

They drop 8 A LOT. Idk if I can take beck throwing digs in those situations.. I rather keep ball outside and isolate #14.. he is Waldo.. if they aren't dropping 8 then go for it I guess.

I want to know the snap count plan.. do we plan for 4 qtr game, put Bain and mesi on 20 play snap count first half.. need them fresh second half..

#51 is legit 6'8 Dt, has 6 blocked kicks in career.. need to be strong on fg attempts..

Will this be hethermans and the defense masterpiece, they have stepped up all year. We spent a week hearing about QB being unstoppable.. Let's get it.

Like I mentioned above, I just cannot imagine they retreat as consistently when our tape indicates we will run them the **** over if so and our QB has previously struggled with some panicked decisions. I really, really hope they just retreat into the redzone, and then I hope Dawson doesn't out-think himself when we get there. Run them over.

McElroy noted in his preview that Fletcher is averaging 5 ypc AFTER contact in the playoffs. Ole Miss gives up 1.5 ypc BEFORE contact. Do the math. That's 6.5 ypc. We will definitely run the ball and force their safeties up. But I would like to see a nice mix of some playaction and end-arounds just to keep them honest. If they over-crash the middle, that end around will be wide open for Marion or Toney.

What would massively help with snap counts for the defense is keeping them off the field with TOP. The offense sustaining long 6-8 minute drives would both tire their defense and keep our's fresh. Our guys were fine vs FSU til the offense decided to go conservative and kept having super short drives, which was exasperated by the constant chasing TC on 3rd and 4th downs by FSU. Whatever the offense is doing, if it's working, don't go away from it.
