One of Miami’s top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class trimmed his list, naming the Miami Hurricanes among his top choices. five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry narrowed his decision list to 14 schools: Miami, Kentucky, Florida State, Iowa, UConn, Florida, Arkansas, Michigan, Tennessee, USC, Louisville, Providence, Villanova, and Vanderbilt.
Daughtry will also have a busy fall, scheduling visits to the following schools: Florida State (Aug. 28-30), Tennessee (Sept. 4-6), Iowa (Sept. 11-13), UConn (Sept. 19-21), Florida (Sept. 25-27) Miami (Oct. 16-18), and Arkansas (Oct. 30-Nov. 1).
Last season, he took a game-day visit to see Miami versus North Carolina, and will be in attendance for the Miami Hurricanes football game against Florida State on October 17th.
Jai Lucas and the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff have made it known that Daughtry is one of the main priority targets to add to this class. The Hurricanes and the Iowa Hawkeyes are considered the front-runners in his recruitment right now.
According to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings, he is currently viewed as a five-star prospect. Daughtry is also listed as the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect, No. 4 among his position, and No. 5 player out of the Sunshine State. He represents Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This past season for the Eagles, he averaged 26.5 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per outing. He also led the Eagles to an overall record of 24-1, accomplishing the FHSAA Class 3A State Championship.
This past summer, Daughtry showed multiple college coaches that he is the real deal. He probably had the biggest and most impactful summer out of all prospects. He was incredible in the Peach Jam, averaging 28 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game. He was named MVP of the event.
