There’s an alternate reality where I was on the phone with some guys here that are connected and I was back channeling Aranda to Miami. That went away fast as heck lol
Anything you can share on why they (I’m assuming Miami) weren’t interested?

I am not evading the issue. My point is that I know his gameday coaching leaves a lot to be desired. It isn’t perception, it’s reality. That is why he needs to recruit at an insane level. He is not an offensive or defensive specialist himself so he basically has to hit on 2 coordinators instead of 1. And no I don’t, but we should have a talent advantage over almost everyone else.

TrumpyCane wants to point out TrumpyCane wasn’t 100% on the Mario train

Saying that what do you mean by his gameday coaching exactly?

I was and still mostly am was just extremely frustrated with last season. He’s not an Xs and Os guy or a HC that is going to call plays. He’s not an offensive guru like Riley or a defensive guru like aranda. He’s more of a recruiting/ceo type coach which is fine-he has won plenty at Oregon doing just that. Wasn’t even a shot at him.

I would share if I knew. I got one phone call for about a hour. That same phone call was when I was told highsmith was coming aboard and liked Aranda. After that I never really heard anything until cristobal was already coming

Don’t disrespect my man like that cuz Lmao
Just out of curiosity, If they go Under .500 again…if he on any sort of hot seat right? 12-2 in 2021 was their best record in school history, so I doubt it. But was intrigued at the possibility considering they’ve got a relatively manageable schedule apart from road trips to Texas and Utah. Everything else is at least within a decent shot of winning.

It could warm up. They have EIGHT home games and return a nice amount of talent and have some impact transfers. I expect them to win at least 9 and then he’s cool probably

Joshisa “Jojo” Trader just commited...

He's an elite recruiter. Not sure why you think this is a "gotcha" moment. My concern all along has been that elite recruiters without elite NIL money are going to miss on a lot of top kids. He got a great skill position player. Beard earned his paycheck too. As for DT - I don't think Joe Salave’a is earning his yet.

Mario is elite recruiter
But he wasn’t giving us the results an elite recruiter should
That’s really the point
I don’t know why anyone would say he’s bad
But he’s still had way too many misses this year
Or maybe we’re honestly being fed fake news to generate more clicks and views
But the fact he’s elite but not not giving elite results was and is the frustrating part
Like if we had lane I would expect the recruiting to suck but I would expect lane to scheme his way to a fun team and maybe it just recruits itself
For Mario I don’t expect schematic advantage
I expect talent advantage and he wasn’t doing it
Up till now

Not going for a "gotcha" moment...but you have been trying really hard to cast doubt about Mario being an elite recruiter...please dont try to deny that....even in the post I replied to you said "[BGCOLOR=rgb(245, 245, 245)]all it takes is one elite WR to commit and I'll believe Cristobal is an elite recruiter."[/BGCOLOR]
It's fair to criticize him for everything ekse except his ability to recruit.

I've cast doubt on hiring an elite recruiter without elite recruiter money. Hence my comparisons to buying magic beans because the rumor is it will grow into a magical beanstalk. Some fans think being an elite recruiter means he Cristobal can go head to head to Nick Saban, whisper sweet nothings into a recruits ear and get him to believe in UM. The only position where he might be able to do they is OL, because players can feel confident they will get developed and drafted. At basically any other position, just being elite isn't going to cut it. Cristobal needs elite NIL too. And right now things are even more expensive so because we have to pay the suck tax.

If we don't have the NIL money of the other schools, then it doesn't make sense to try and play the game on their terms. I think we'd be better off with a scheme focused HC who can squirrel away enough money to land the occasional game changing 5 star, meanwhile he can get the most out of the 3 and low 4 stars on the roster and string together a bunch of good seasons. Once he does that, the price tag for the top recruits start to go down.

The first class was good considering the time he had.
The second was excellent and much more than just OL
The third class is not finished.

It’s a great question. But he’s safe. However, another bad year will make recruiting harder in 25
